You will also find that a lot of the pre-owned cars, trucks, and SUVs offer amazing safety features. Today we want to share with you a myth about driving on icy roads, so that you can realize how important it is to be a safe driver with a safe vehicle.
Myth: Winter tires, 4WD, AWD, stability control, ABS and/or traction control allow for safe travel on icy roads at highway speeds.
Truth: The reality is that there is no technology, no tire nor any vehicle type that allows SAFE travel on any type of icy road at speeds greater than 45mph. Not traction control, electronic stability control, 4WD, AWD, antilock brakes or the most expensive brand-new snow tires. While all of those safety features will improve a vehicle’s handling and control to some degree, they do not eliminate the danger of losing control at highway speeds over 45mph in any type of road icing condition. The general driving public has been poorly informed about this critical point. “Most assume that icy road accidents are caused by either an inexperienced or reckless driver, or a vehicle with bad/worn tires. This certainly is a contributing factor to road ice accident numbers, implicitly suggesting that the product allows a the driver to continue normally in icy conditions without a reduction in speed.”-icryroadsafety.com

Jeep Cherokee at All Star Jeep Dealer near Glendale
The start of the holiday season always makes us feel nostalgic for days gone by. It gets us thinking of warm feelings and favorite memories. Today we want to take a look back at how the Jeep Cherokee and how it started out. Remember, you can get the latest Jeep Cherokee at All Star Jeep Dealer near Glendale.
The Jeep Cherokee is a line of vehicles sold by Jeep under various vehicle classes. Originally sold as a variant of the popular Jeep Wagoneer, the Cherokee has evolved from a full-size SUV to one of the first compact SUVs and eventually into its current incarnation as a crossover SUV. The nameplate has been in continuous use in some form since 1974 and also spawned Jeep’s most successful vehicle, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was originally slated to be part of the Cherokee’s lineup. The vehicle is named after the Cherokee tribe of Native Americans.
The Cherokee was a redesigned reintroduction of a two-door body style Jeep Wagoneer, with a single fixed rear side window with an optional flip-out section. Previously, a two-door version had been available in the Jeep Wagoneer line from 1963 to 1967), although this had the same pillar and window configuration as the four-door Wagoneer. This replaced the Jeepster Commando, whose sales had not met expectations despite an extensive 1972 revamp. The Cherokee appealed to a younger market than the Wagoneer, which was regarded more as a family SUV.
The Cherokee was marketed as the “sporty” two-door variant of Jeep’s station wagon. The term “Sport Utility” appears for the first time in the 1974 Cherokee sales brochure. A four-door was not added to the lineup until 1977. Other than the base model, the trim levels of the Cherokee included the S (Sport), Chief, Golden Eagle, Golden Hawk, Limited, Classic, Sport, Pioneer, and Laredo. Dodge Ram cars, trucks, and SUVs at All Star Dodge Ram near Wentzville
As we start to hit the holiday season, we are feeling a bit nostalgic. We like being reminded of our joyous memories from the past and thought we would share some of our memories with you. We want to take a look back at how Dodge got its start, doing all the way back to the founders, the Dodge brothers. You can always get the latest Dodge models, as well as some classics too, at All Star Dodge Ram near Wentzville.
Like many other pioneers in the automobile industry, the Dodge Brothers were skilled machinists from a modest background. John Francis Dodge (bom October 25, 1864) and Horace Elgin Dodge (bom May 17, 1868) were two of the three children of Daniel Rug and Maria (Casto) Dodge of Niles, Michigan. Delphine Dodge was the third child. They attended public schools, but learned the machinist’s trade from their father, who ran a shop specializing in internal combustion engines for marine use. The inseparable brothers built the first bicycle in Niles. They left this sleepy town in southwest Michigan in 1886, stopped briefly in Battle Creek and Port Huron, Michigan, and then worked steadily at the Murphy Boiler Works in Detroit until 1894. They moved across the Detroit River to Windsor, Ontario, where they became machinists for the Canadian Typograph Company and soon began their first venture to manufacture precision metal products.
They began with only twelve employees, but quickly established a reputation for excellent workmanship. Consequently their business grew and forced them to move to larger quarters at Hastings Street and Monroe Avenue. When they left there in 1910 for the spacious Hamtramck site, the Hastings Street plant was the largest and best-equipped machine shop in Detroit. We love the Dodge Durango and the many wonderful qualities that it has to offer. We are also super excited to share with you some of what we saw when we got our first look at the 2018 Dodge Durango. While it is not yet at All Star Dodge Ram near Glendale, it will be soon!
“When it comes to three-row SUVs, most manufacturers highlight civility, practicality and economy. Not Dodge. For the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, Dodge rolled out a brash, in-your-face zag to everyone’s zig in the form of the 2017 Dodge Durango SRT. Dodge calls it “America’s fastest, most powerful and most capable three-row SUV.””-edmonds.com
With a 6.4-liter V8 producing 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, the Durango SRT can accelerate to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, according to Dodge. In other words, not only can this SUV seat six and tow up to 8,600 pounds, it can keep up with many a German sport sedan. Thank the new launch control feature for this feat. Like sports cars, the Durango SRT can optimize traction control and shift parameters to ensure the fastest acceleration possible. It has multiple drive modes that are capable of changing the calibration of everything from the suspension and stability control to the center-differential torque split and transmission shift parameters. Combined with stiffer rear damping, springs and anti-roll bars, the Durango SRT is bound to handle about as sporty as a gigantic three-row SUV can. Bringing the speed down are Brembo brake calipers and 15-inch brake rotors up front and 13.8-inch brake rotors on the rear axle.
So when you think Dodge Durango, think utility meets sports car. Think agility and comfort. You will not find a better SUV on the market. So get to All Star and place your order for the 2018 Dodge Durango!
Service Department at All Star Dodge Ram near Saint Charles
We hear this question all the time. The short answer is YES! We will get into the long answer shortly. Whenever you need anything done to any of your Dodge, Ram, Jeep, or Chrysler cars, trucks, or SUVs, you should really bring it to the Service Department at All Star Dodge Ram near Saint Charles. Their team knows just how to handle any and all situations that may come up. Now here’s the long answer…
One of the biggest advantages of servicing a vehicle at the dealership begins right in the service bays. Dealerships employ technicians that are considered specialists in working on a particular line of vehicles. They are manufacturer-trained and, in most cases, only work on the make of vehicles that are sold through that particular dealership.
The specialist training is often only offered to a manufacturer’s network of dealerships, and encompasses not only the service technicians, but service managers, advisors and support staff as well. This means that the men and women working on the vehicles have intimate knowledge of how these vehicles are supposed to perform and how/when to make necessary repairs.
“Another advantage is the relationship that is built with the dealership. By having a vehicle serviced regularly at the dealership, they have an accurate and up-to-date picture of the road and service history of that vehicle. They are better equipped to understand what is going on with each individual vehicle because they have all prior service records right at their fingertips.”-tischerauto.com

Jeep Renegade at All Star Jeep Dealer near Ladue
The Jeep Renegade at All Star Jeep Dealer near Ladue really has a huge mass appeal. This compact SUV has a lot of bells and whistles as well as incredible capabilities. We want to explore more about this incredible model here today.
It’s safe to say that the Renegade is making a big impact. Along with the flagship Grand Cherokee, the Renegade is one of the highest-rated vehicles Jeep currently makes. Now in its third model year, the Renegade also scores better than many of its competitors in the burgeoning class of subcompact SUVs.
The Renegade isn’t just a cute ute with a Jeep badge; it can also “Go anywhere and do anything” like its larger siblings. No other SUV in the class can match the Renegade’s off-road capabilities. In fact, few vehicles in any class can, and most of them wear a Jeep badge. This little Jeep isn’t just an off-road warrior though. It shows its manners on paved roads, with confident handling, a composed ride, and an adequate engine. It also gives you plenty of day-to-day utility, with excellent passenger room and a decent-sized cargo hold.
“The Jeep Renegade should appeal to many shoppers for a variety of reasons. First, it has the lowest base price in the class by a sizeable amount, getting you an off-road-ready partner cheaper. However, be prepared to spend more money to bring the Renegade in line with the competition. The Wrangler may be the model that put Jeep on the map, but if you want a lot of what makes a Jeep a Jeep but in a more comfortable package that also works as a daily driver, then the Renegade could be for you.”-cars.usnews.com

Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge in Bridgeton
So you find yourself needing something powerful, sporty, and that can haul a number of people. If this is you, then you need to check out the new Dodge Durango SRT at All Star Dodge in Bridgeton. This powerful workhorse offers great agility and comfort all at the same time. Let’s take a deeper look at this powerful model.
Appropriately billed by Dodge as the Charger of SUVs, the Durango SRT starts with the brand’s naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V-8 found in various versions of the aforementioned Charger (as well as the Challenger). The 475-hp engine also boasts 470 lb-ft of torque and is capable of propelling the big brute to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. That’s just two ticks slower than the Challenger 392, which weighs in at a significantly lighter 4,240 lb. “It growls just as properly as it does in the Challenger when pushed, which is always good for a smile — or at least a satisfied smirk. Dodge says the Durango SRT’s eight-speed automatic, which distributes power to all four wheels via a standard all-wheel drive system that can send up to 70 percent of torque to the rear wheels, has been specifically calibrated for the vehicle. Shifts can reportedly be cracked off in as little as 160 milliseconds and there’s a satisfying WHOMP to each one when you have the hammer down.”-automobilemag.com
Its suspension is bolstered by Bilstein adaptive dampers, 3-percent stiffer front springs, 16 percent-stiffer rear springs, and an 18 percent-stiffer rear anti-roll bar. The effect is a surprisingly agile package on track that offers a smooth and comfortable ride on road with minimal NVH aside from the engine’s soundtrack.

Service Center at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis
We all know we are supposed to properly maintain our auto vehicles, but what exactly does that mean, and why? Today we want to talk about why it is important to get all of your Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Chrysler cars, trucks, and SUVs serviced at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis.
Regularly servicing your car can make the difference between it running smoothly and fuel efficiently, and the risk of it breaking down and incurring an expensive and unexpected repair. It can be a false economy to avoid regular car servicing, since expected wear and tear requiring minor maintenance, can fast become a costly major repair or replacement.
The service schedule for your vehicle will depend on the manufacturer and also depend on the car’s mileage and age.
“We have defined an Interim Service as having 35 main action points including, four changes and four top-ups. The changes include engine oil, oil filter and wheel nut torque (depending on the vehicle’s mileage and manufacturer specification). The dealership will also check and change the tire pressure and top up the clutch fluid, power steering reservoir, brake fluid level and windscreen washer if required.”-automyze.theaa.com
The dealership will also perform checks on other parts of the vehicle and if these parts need changing they will communicate this with you in advance of carrying out the work to make sure you are aware of what additional work is required and whether any further costs may be incurred.
