Perfection Over the Years

Dodge Grand Caravan at All Star Dodge near St. Louis

It is said that wine gets better with age, it could be argued that the Dodge Grand Caravan at All Star Dodge near St. Louis has gotten better with age as well. There have been five generations of the Dodge Grand Caravan, and we think that this latest generation has bben the best yet! Let’s take a look at the latest generation!
he fifth generation van had debuted at the 2007 North American International Auto Show with exterior styling by Ralph Gilles. Beginning with Generation V in model year 2008, Chrysler only made the long wheelbase Grand Caravan. With discontinuation of the short-wheelbase Caravan, Dodge offered the Journey on nearly an identical wheelbase and as a crossover rather than a minivan. Although the SWB model, which had accounted for half of all sales in Canada, cost approximately $2,000 less and offered a four-cylinder engine option with improved fuel economy, Chrysler executives stated the SWB Caravan was discontinued to accommodate new features offered in the Grand Caravan, consistent with the demands of the majority of the minivan market.

“A new six-speed automatic transmission became standard with the 3.8 L V6 and the new 4.0 L V6. The four-speed automatic transmission is standard with the 3.3 L Flex-Fuel V6. This generation of Grand Caravan and its Town & Country counterpart were not available with an all-wheel-drive system. The previously unavailable Electronic Stability Control was made standard on this generation.”-dodge.com

Their guaranteed financing program ensures that you will get approved!

Muscle Car Glory Days

Dodge Charger at All Star Dodge near Arnold

Spring is upon us in the St. Louis area – things are coming back to life and the world just seems a little brighter. It is at these moments that we like to reflect on the history of some of our favorite vehicles, blame it on nostalgia. We want to take a look at the Dodge Charger and its early beginnings. Of course you can get the latest Dodge Charger at All Star Dodge near Arnold.

January 1, 1966 at the annual Rose Bowl Game audience was first shown Dodge Charger – the new flagship of Dodge car company. The main designer of the project was Carl Cameron. Sales began in mid-1966.

“In 1966, the feature of Charger becomes electric shaver grille – used completely hiding lights that are not used by Chrysler since 1942 (on some models of DeSoto division) – when the lights are open or closed grille looks solid piece. Inside, Dodge Charger has four stand alone anatomical seats, long console from front to rear. Rear seats and part of the console can be folded forwards and the boot partition allows you to place luggage inside the cabin. Many elements have been exclusive – door panels, dashboard lights, and others.”-carswithmuscle.com

All engine range have a choice of V8. Six-cylinder engines were not offered until 1968. In 1966, four engine choices were offered: the base 318 CID (5.2 l), 361 CID (5.9 L), 383 CID (6.3 L). The most popular was the 383 with 325 HP (242 kW ). Hemi 426 (7.0 l) was also available.

In late 1966 dealer installed optional spoiler on the trunk lid (because of the rules of participation in NASCAR). In 1966, the Dodge Charger was the first production car in the US equipped with a spoiler. Total production of Dodge Charger was 37344 units in 1966.

It was amazing how popular the Dodge Charger was upon its release, but it is not surprising just how much we still love this classic car.

Jeep Cherokee: A Wonderful SUV

Jeep Cherokee at All Star Jeep Dealer near Illinois

Spring is officially here in St. Louis, as the ridiculous amount of rain we have gotten over the last few days can attest to. (We hope that all of our readers are safe and sound, we know that the flooding has been incredibly dangerous. Please do not drive on flooded roads, the signs are posted for your safety.) Springtime makes us think of rebirth and of the history of our favorite automobiles. Today we want to take a look at the start of the Jeep Cherokee that is always available at All Star Jeep Dealer near Illinois.

The first Jeep Cherokee, launched in 1974, was simply a two-door version of the Jeep Wagoneer. In 1977, the Jeep Cherokee, still a low-end version of the Wagoneer, was available with both two and four doors.

After ten years, a new and completely different Cherokee was brought out, which would revolutionize American SUVs. This new Jeep Cherokee had a shorter wheelbase than the original, and a shorter length – seven and 21 inches respectively – helping it to check in at a svelte 3,100 pounds, a thousand pounds less than the Wagoneer-based model, around the same weight as a Plymouth Valiant. “The new Cherokee was more economical, and easier to drive both on and off road. Again, both two and four door models were available; a pickup version called the Comanche was built on the same assembly line. In front, a multi-link front suspension with a track bar and coil springs was used, with recirculating ball steering; traditional leaf springs held up the rear.”-allpar.com

The first two generations of the Jeep Cherokee were the beginnings of the wonderful Jeep Cherokee we know and love today. Learn more about the Cherokee at All Star today!

A Look Back at the Dodge Grand Caravan

Dodge Grand Caravan at All Star Dodge near St. Louis

It is nice to every once and a while take a look back at the history of a given vehicle. Today we want to look back at the Dodge Grand Caravan that is available at All Star Dodge near St. Louis.

Introduced in November 1983 for the 1984 model year, the first minivan of all time, the Dodge Caravan was based on the Chrysler S platform, an extended derivative of the Chrysler K platform. For the 1987 model year, a longer wheelbase was introduced, which was called the Grand Caravan. It was still based on the Chrysler S platform.

Since the beginning of production in the fall of 1983, over 11 million Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth minivans have been sold.

1984-1990

The first generation Caravans used the Chrysler S platform, which was closely related to the K-cars (Plymouth Reliant and Dodge Aries. There were three trim levels on the first generation Caravan: base, mainstream SE and upscale LE. The Caravan was on Car and Driver magazine’s Ten Best list for 1985. Both a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a five-speed manual were available with the four-cylinder engines, including the turbocharged 2.5 L (this was a rare combination). A cargo version of the Caravan, called the Mini Ram Van, was also introduced in 1984. It was renamed as the Caravan C/V for 1989, and was discontinued after 1995.

1991-1995

The 1991 through 1995 the Caravan used the Chrysler AS platform. These were the last minivans that were derived from the Chrysler K platform.

1996-2000

The 1996 redesign used the Chrysler NS platform and included a driver’s side sliding door, a first for Chrysler. All wheel drive was reintroduced in 1997. The Caravan was Motor Trend magazine’s Car of the Year for 1996. The Caravan was also on Car and Driver magazine’s Ten Best list for 1996 and 1997. (This information was compiled from dodge-caravan.net and dodge.com.)

Ram 3500: Super Truck

Ram 3500 at All Star Dodge Ram near Mehlville

If you are one of the many hard working people in the St. Louis area, you might need a truck that can keep up with your hard work. If this sounds like you, then you need to get the super Ram 3500 at All Star Dodge Ram near Mehlville.

The Ram 3500 is the sort of truck that gives even a temporary owner a powerful urge to stop off at Tractor Supply Co. for a Carhartt jacket, steel-toed work boots, and rawhide gloves. And maybe 20 rolls of barbed wire, a couple dozen bags of cement, and one of every welder they sell. That’s what this big Ram is all about: work. You can outfit the interior with lots of fancy options— really somewhere around $18,045 in extras, but most of that can go to work-related enhancements. (This amount may not be totally accurate, talk to a member of the All Star team for a more exact figure.) Still, upscale features like leather, navigation, heated seats, premium audio, and Uconnect telematics spread only a thin veneer of civilization over a primordial brute with a work ethic that makes your average Calvinist look like a slacker.

“To put the Ram 3500 into perspective, here are some noteworthy numbers: 385 horsepower, 900 lb-ft of torque, up to 7390 pounds of payload capacity, 31,210 pounds of maximum towing capacity. The turbo-diesel V-8s in the Ford and GM behemoths huff up more horsepower than does the Ram’s 6.7-liter straight-six, but the Cummins engineers keep mining more torque, with an increase of 35 lb-ft over the 2015 version.”-caranddriver.com

Don’t just take our word for it, head to All Star today and check out the Ram 3500. Take a test drive and feel the power that this Ram has to offer!
