Don’t Let Icy Roads Get You Down

Collision Repair Center at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Peters

We are getting to the time of year that icy roads are going to start happening. Welcome to the St. Louis area in winter! What do you do if you were to get into an accident on an icy road that causes damage to occur to your Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, or Jeep car, truck, or SUV? The solution is simple, you head to All Star Dodge Ram near St. Peters and let their Collision Repair Center handle all of your repairs! Their talented staff can get your vehicle repaired and back on the road quickly. Today we want to address a common myth about driving on icy roads.

Myth: I have a lot of experience driving in winter weather, I should be fine.

Truth: “The stats show that no one has the skill to drive at highway speeds on icy roads.”-icyroadsafety.com

A factor in many of the serious and fatal crashes is overconfidence in one’s abilities and/or equipment (traction control, antilock brakes, stability control, good tires). Some feel that they have sufficient experience in winter driving, and can therefore continue normally (at or above the speed limit). But a fishtail on ice that occurs at highway speeds is usually unrecoverable by even the most quick-witted and experienced drivers. Practicing slow-speed slides in parking lots is useless for what happens to a vehicle at highway speed. A person who enters a high-speed slide will quickly learn that it is something they can’t handle – but all too late.

Remember, no matter your level of experience driving in winter weather, it is never safe to drive on icy roads. Please be careful this weekend and through the rest of the winter months. However, should your vehicle be damaged, head to the Collision Repair Center at All Star.

Customer Service You Can Count On

All Star Dodge Ram Jeep Chrysler near St. Louis

We all have had those bad customer service experiences. We recently had one at a well-known St. Louis area restaurant, and it really ruined our evening. We had had great service there before but that night, it was very poor. Consistency seems to be hard for businesses in the customer service industry as of late. There is one place where customer service never has any consistency issues, that place is All Star Dodge near St. Louis. We don’t just want you to take our word for it, we want to share with you some conversations that we recently had with real customers who have shopped at All Star.

This is the most professional dealership that I have ever dealt with. I knew what I wanted before I arrived, and it was delivered with an efficiency that is rare. From start to finish, I was there only 1 hour. From the initial paperwork, to credit check, to financing, to out the door. All was handled professionally. I want to especially give a shot out to Mindy Pluma. Her personality was awesome. -Sheri

Mr. John Horrell offers customer support, advice and solutions in meeting the needs of a customer, like myself. My satisfaction and loyalty to this dealership is based on trust, professionalism, knowledgeable and attitude. -Sam

Customer services is #1 to me. This will be my fourth car from All Star. At first I was thinking about going to a different dealership, but my mind told me, “Why would you do that when Renell always takes care of you?” If something isn’t broke then why try and fix it? Start to finish he always listens on what I want. I will never think about going to another dealership. All Star is family and loyalty goes along way. You’re the best! -Monica

All Star has the latest and greatest selection of new cars in the St. Louis area and we are sure that they will have the right new car for you!

Made to Order — Chances are, you can spec a new car just the way you want it, or at least have the dealer search for one with the right combination of options and interior and exterior colors.

It’s Not Used — Well, duh. A new car hasn’t been in any accidents, hasn’t been mistreated by unknown evildoers, doesn’t smell funny, has seen no wear or tear, and comes with a clean history that includes only being driven off the line, onto a transporter, and around the dealer’s lot.

Warranty — Like the rest of it, the new car’s warranty is untouched. You can buy warranties for used cars or go the certified preowned route, but the best warranty you can get—without paying extra—will be the one that comes with a new car from the manufacturer.

Latest Gizmos — “The newer the car, the more modern the geeky tech that’s packed inside. Multimedia and navigation interfaces are constantly evolving and improving, so if you have to have the latest in gadgets (and don’t want to add them yourself post-factory) the selection will be better in the new-car showroom.”-caranddriver.com

Let’s Talk 1960’s Dodge Dart

Dodge Dart at All Star Dodge near St. Louis

While we all know that the latest Dodge Dart at All Star Dodge near St. Louis is a wonderful machine, but we want to go back a little bit further in time and take a look at the third generation of the Dodge Dart. We like to know a bit about where a model comes from and so we can speculate on where it’s going.

For 1963, Dodge made a last-minute decision to drop the Lancer name in favor of Dart for Dodge’s newly designed “senior compact”, a marketing term referring to the wheelbase having grown to 111 in (2,819 mm) from the Lancer’s 106.5 in (2,705 mm). This longer wheelbase used the same A-body suspension of the Valiant and defunct Lancer, and would underpin all Darts from 1963 to 1976 except the 1963–1966 station wagons which used the Valiant’s (106 in (2,692 mm) wheelbase) and the 1971–1976 Demon/Sport which used the Plymouth Duster’s 108 in (2,743 mm) wheelbase. The longer wheelbase gave more rear seat legroom than the previous Lancer or the contemporaneous Valiant. The Dart was available as a 2- or 4-door sedan, a 2-door hardtop coupe, a station wagon, and a convertible. Three trim levels were offered: the low-spec 170, the high-spec 270, and the premium GT, which was available only as a 2-door hardtop or convertible. The 1963 Dart has a turning radius of 38.9 ft (11.9 m).

The Dart was an instant market success, with 1963 sales up sharply compared to those of the 1962 Lancer. The Dart remained extremely popular through the end of the Dart’s production run in 1976 in comparison to the Ford Falcon and the Chevrolet Nova. Dodge and Chrysler Ending Production???

Chrysler Cars at All Star Chrysler near Ellisville

We thought that title might get your attention! Dodge and Chrysler are not ending production, so no need to worry. They are talking about ending production on the right hand driving models. While this does not really apply to us here in the St. Louis area, it is going to make a global impact. Let’s look a little deeper into this.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is reportedly bringing an end to right-hand-drive production of Chrysler and Dodge vehicles at its Windsor and Brampton factories in Canada. FCA had already pulled the plug on Chrysler and Dodge’s UK efforts, but it looks as if it will now exit other RHD markets in South Africa, New Zealand, Japan, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Australia, too.

The report, which initiated in South Africa, suggested that the Chrysler 300 will be available in Australia despite the move, but FCA itself has said it’s still fully committed to right-hand-drive markets. The basis of the claims was a quote from FCA South Africa CEO Robin van Rensburg, who suggested Chrysler and Dodge were out due to them no longer being produced in RHD configuration in North America.

“FCA announced in early 2015 that 2017 would be the last year Chrysler products would be offered in the UK, citing the need to concentrate on the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Jeep brands, as well as dwindling sales, as the reasons behind the decision. Dodge left the UK market back in 2010.”-msn.com

We are not super surprised by this decision, but it has us wondering if FCA will be expanding the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Jeep lines in the UK, and maybe here too. In the mean time, head to All Star Chrysler near Ellisville and check out their huge selection of Chrysler Cars.

But How Does it Work?

Ram 2500 at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis

Have you ever wondered how the engine on the Ram 2500 at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis works? Today we would like to provide you with a basic explanation on how the engine works. Remember, there is a lot more going on under the hood of the Ram 2500 than what we can explain here, but we think you are going to like learning about these powerful engines.

Most pickup trucks sold today have internal combustion engines. Passenger vehicles are powered by two main types of engines: compression, aka diesel, and spark ignition, aka gasoline.

Both spark ignition and compression ignition engines can work on a two- or four-stroke cycle. The more common of the two for automobiles, and certainly pickups, is the four-stroke. If we follow the path of the air entering a four-stroke engine, the strokes (or stages) in order are:

  1. Intake: The piston moves from top dead center to bottom dead center with the intake valve(s) open. If fuel is injected into the throttle body or intake manifold, then it is pulled into the cylinder with the air. If fuel is directly injected, then it may be injected near the end of the intake stroke and into the beginning of the compression stroke.
  2. Compression: All valves close and the piston moves from bottom to top dead center. Near the end of the compression stroke the spark plug fires, igniting the air-fuel mixture.
  3. Power: The piston moves from top to bottom dead center with all valves closed. The air inside the cylinder expands from the combustion of the air-fuel mixture. This provides the driving force for the engine.
  4. Exhaust: The piston moves from bottom to top dead center with the exhaust valve(s) open, pushing the exhaust out. (This information is compiled from news.pickuptrucks.com.)

Ram Trucks at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis

We are super excited to announce that the Ram line of trucks is getting to release a couple of new trim levels on their trucks. These trucks will soon be available at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis. These new trims pay homage to the Lone Star State!

Shown at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, Ram unveiled two new special appearance packages for its pickups that have a distinctly Texan twang. The 2018 Ram Laramie Longhorn Southfork, named after the real-life ranch made famous by J.R. Ewing on TV’s “Dallas,” features upgraded leather upholstery in a distinct brown and beige color combo, plus leather wrapped around its pillar-mounted grab handles. Its steering wheel combines walnut wood with—you guessed it—leather. If that’s not enough, the truck’s headliner and visor mirrors are suede. The Laramie Longhorn serves as the lineup’s new flagship and it features bold “Longhorn” badging to match.

“Ram says it’ll offer the Southfork package on 2018 model year 1500, 2500, and 3500 versions of its trucks in both rear- and four-wheel drive. Additionally, Ram is extending its Lone Star Silver Edition package to include 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty versions of the truck lineup in addition to the half-ton Ram 1500. The appearance package builds on the Texas-only Lone Star package with additional chrome details outside, side steps, and 20-inch alloy wheels.”-thecarconnection.com

Why is Auto Service So Important?

Service Center at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis

We all know we are supposed to properly maintain our auto vehicles, but what exactly does that mean, and why? Today we want to talk about why it is important to get all of your Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Chrysler cars, trucks, and SUVs serviced at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis.

Regularly servicing your car can make the difference between it running smoothly and fuel efficiently, and the risk of it breaking down and incurring an expensive and unexpected repair. It can be a false economy to avoid regular car servicing, since expected wear and tear requiring minor maintenance, can fast become a costly major repair or replacement.

The service schedule for your vehicle will depend on the manufacturer and also depend on the car’s mileage and age.

“We have defined an Interim Service as having 35 main action points including, four changes and four top-ups. The changes include engine oil, oil filter and wheel nut torque (depending on the vehicle’s mileage and manufacturer specification). The dealership will also check and change the tire pressure and top up the clutch fluid, power steering reservoir, brake fluid level and windscreen washer if required.”-automyze.theaa.com

The dealership will also perform checks on other parts of the vehicle and if these parts need changing they will communicate this with you in advance of carrying out the work to make sure you are aware of what additional work is required and whether any further costs may be incurred.

If you have any questions on the kind of servicing done on at the All Star service center, just ask! Their friendly and factory trained technicians would love to answer any questions that you might have. Stop by the All Star service center today!
