New Chrysler Cars at All Star Chrysler near Saint Charles
We all know that Fiat Chrysler makes some of the finest automobiles on the market. What you might not know is that Fiat Chrysler also is a huge manufacturer of auto parts, even outside of their Chrysler, Ram, Jeep, and Dodge models. There has been speculation lately that FCA would be spinning off some of the manufacturing of these parts into their own specific units. Let’s take a look and see what we mean.
“On August 22, 2017, market speculation was rife that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V., a global manufacturer and marketer of automobiles and commercial vehicles, might spin-off upscale brands Maserati and Alfa Romeo, along with its components operations including Magneti Marelli. In April 2017, in response to an analyst query on the 1Q17 earnings call, Mr. Sergio Marchionne, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FCAU acknowledged that the Jeep and Ram brands are large and strong enough to exist as independent entities, similar to Ferrari after its spin-off,” (forbes.com). Post spin-off, Maserati will continue to design, engineering, develop, manufacture, globally distribute and sale luxury vehicles under its brand. On the other hand, Fiat Chrysler will continue to manufacture and mass-market automobiles and commercial vehicles in the regions NAFTA, LATAM, APAC and EMEA under the brands Abarth, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Fiat Professional and Lancia brands.
“FCAU shares have increased 18% in the last two weeks and surged 10% since the rumors of spin-off of Maserati and Alfa Romeo brands surfaced,”(forbes.com). The spin-off speculation followed immediately after Chinese automobile manufacturer Great Wall Motors confirmed its intention to buy the iconic Jeep brand. FCAU denied the news stating that it has not been approached by the automaker for Jeep brand or any other matter related to its business.

Chrysler Cars at All Star near Arnold
The latest trends at the auto shows have been companies that are beginning to produce self-driving or driver-less cars. While it has mainly been companies like Tesla and Google putting these vehicles out, Chrysler has decided to enter the game. We want to talk about this today.
Earlier this month Chrysler took the wraps off a self-driving electric minivan concept called the Portal at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show. Car concepts shown at the electronics trade fair typically aren’t intended for production, but that might not be the case for the Portal.
Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles [NYSE:FCAU], said during last week’s 2017 Detroit auto show that he expects the Portal or something like it to enter production after 2018, The Detroit News reports.
Marchionne added that FCA’s Windsor Assembly Plant in Canada, where Chrysler builds its Pacifica, would be the “natural place” to build such a vehicle. This makes sense as the Portal shares a platform with the Pacifica.
Tim Kuniskis, FCA’s head of passenger cars, told The Detroit News that the automaker was still gauging the response to the concept. “He also described the Portal as representing the fifth generation of family haulers which started with the station wagon and then progressed to the minivan and eventually the body-on-frame SUV and presently the car-like crossover SUV. The fifth generation entails vehicles that are electric, fully connected and capable of driving on their own.”-motorauthority.com

Chrysler 300 at All Star Chrysler in Bridgeton
One of the boldest sedans on the market today is the Chrysler 300 at All Star Chrysler in Bridgeton. There has been some question about what the new platform of this model will look like with some of the changes happening will some models leaving the FCA vehicle lineup. Will the 300 be going away? As it looks now, this is highly unlikely. The Chrysler 300 has been one of the most popular models ever put out by Chrysler.
Part of the speculation about changes coming on the Chrysler 300 comes from comments made by Mr. Marchionne, the headhancho at FCA. “Company boss Sergio Marchionne recently hinted that engineers could have major changes in store for the next-generation 300, and they’re not likely to please owners of the current model.”-digitaltrends.com
The brand new platform found under the 2017 Pacifica, Chrysler’s latest minivan, can be modified to underpin a large sedan like the 300, according to Marchionne. If Chrysler decides to take that route, the next 300 will come standard with a transversally mounted engine and front-wheel drive, and buyers who need more traction will be able to order all-wheel drive in exchange for a few thousand additional dollars.
Marchionne pointed out that it’s technically possible to build the 300 on the Pacifica platform and assemble the two in the same Windsor, Canada, factory, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will happen. The sedan is still at the embryonic stage of development, so a final decision hasn’t been made yet and Chrysler still has time to mull it over because the second-gen 300 isn’t expected to arrive until halfway through 2018 at the very earliest. Some sources even claim it’s been delayed until 2019 or later, giving engineers, executives, and bean-counters additional time to think it through.
We will just have to anxiously await to see what happens with the Chrysler 300!
Dodge Dart at All Star in Missouri
The recent addition or re-addition of the Dodge Dart to the Dodge line up has been well received by those who loved the initial Dart that came out all of those years ago. It has been a little bit of a rough road getting people to discover all that the new Dart has to offer. Because of this uncertainty in the marketplace, the Dart might be seeing some changes in its base model platform over the next few years.
“CEO Sergio Marchionne said the model would be allowed to “run its course” in order to expand production capacity for Jeep and Ram models. FCA will then “withdraw the current Dodge Dart from the marketplace over a prolonged period of time, during which we will be continuing discussions with potential partners that will be able to allow us to access that architecture and effectively provide us the product from their facilities,” Marchionne said.” – Car and Driver
There are still some speculation that is taking place over what will actually be done with the Dart. We are hopeful that they will let the current model and trims run and then replace this Dart with a new redesign that focuses more on the technology and engine advancements. (Maybe even include more luxury features? Who knows?) The CEO is always so cryptic when he speaks that is hard to tell for sure – he might not even have a finished plan in place!
Whatever happens, now is the time to get the 2016 Dodge Dart if you want to own a little piece of history – there might not be much time left! We always new that the Dart was a limited time release but it seems it could be gone too soon. Head to All Star in Missouri to get this great car before it is gone!

On May 13th, Chrysler Group LLC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne spoke to over 300 students, family, and faculty at Indiana University Kokomo’s Spring commencment ceremony. The ceremony took place at Havens Auditorium and included a ceremony in which Marchionne was given Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Indiana University’s President Michael McRobbie.
In his speech, Marchionne addressed the students with the following message:
“The real question is, what do you want to be remembered for? Making a difference is the best answer I have ever heard. Your outlook on life completely changes if you point your efforts to this very simple objective. Making a difference to the organization you work for, to the community that you live in, to the families that sustain you and the ones you will support as you go through life. Doing things for no purpose is a denial of our humanity. We need no magic to change the world. We already have all the power we need. It’s inside us. It’s the power to imagine things in a better way. It is up to you to write the story of your life. Nothing is guaranteed, but the possibilities are indeed endless.”
Marchionne’s participation in the event is highlighted by the fact that the Chrysler Group employs more than 7,000 people in that area at it’s various regional transmission plants.

In Canada, a defence of Chrysler’s requests for government incentives to invest has been mounted by CEO Sergio Marchionne. He has said that his company is planning a larger investment than all other automotive companies in the last five years.
Last Wednesday the Chrysler CEO wrote an opinion piece for the Globe and Mail. He derided it “self-proclaimed experts who have sought to demonize Chrysler’s contemplated investment.”
He wrote, “The shame in all of this is the fact that virtually all of the automotive companies who invested more than $40 billion in Mexico and the United States over the past five years never even bothered to ask Canada if it was interested in helping to bring these investments and jobs to Canada.”
Upgrades and retooling plants in Windsor and Brampton, Ont. is wanted, but a release of cost has not been release nor have the incentive expectations from the government been divulged.
Marchionne said contributions from the federal and Ontario government would be necessary to secure a Chrysler expansion in Canada in an appearance at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto last week.
Marchionne’s piece in the Globe proposed that Chrysler’s investment in Canada would be larger than all investments by the automotive industry in Canada in the past five years. This includes General Motors, Ford and Toyota.
He also pointed out that taxable, repayable loans from the federal government and grants were received by those companies for their investments. This support is being offered for auto manufacturing investment by countries around the globe.

All Star Dodge Jeep Dealer serving St Louis is pleased to announce that Chrysler has increased its production of the Jeep Grand Cherokee due to consumer demand. Demand is so high for the innovative and classic SUV that Chrysler has made the decision to cancel its normal two-week, mid-summer shut down in order to meet consumer demand, this adding over 1100 jobs. This is part 2 of a 2 part article on the topic. For additional information, please check our blog for part 1. Sergio Marchionne made the announcement for Chrysler, while at the same time criticizing the Canadian Auto Workers union for causing the shut down of a mini-van production plant. Sergio blasted the union by saying the stoppages made a minuscule financial difference between labor and management. He reminded the union that, “ people have an incredibly short memory of what happened back in 2009. I have zero empathy for that process today.” In an article from USA today it was stated, “Chrysler went through bankruptcy reorganization in 2009, pressed by slow-selling products and high costs, including, the company said, union wages and benefits. “I would ask everybody to come back to their senses and clean this stuff up,” Marchionne said. Workers at the plant in question, Dakkota Integrated Systems, voted again later in the day and decided to return to work, allowing minivan production to resume in the afternoon. Dakkota makes instrument panels for the family vans built by Chrysler in Ontario and sold under the names Dodge Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country and Volkswagen Routan. All Star Dodge, Jeep Dealer serving St. Louis is pleased to announce that Chrysler has increased its production of the Jeep Grand Cherokee due to consumer demand. Demand is so high for the innovative and classic SUV that Chrysler has made the decision to cancel its normal two-week, mid-summer shut down in order to meet consumer demand. And the good news just keeps getting better. No only will Chrysler continue production non-stop through the summer, but they are adding more than 1100 jobs as a result. This is great news for Chrysler, great news for Jeep lovers, and great news for the economy. Chrysler plans to add the jobs as early as November of this year, instead of waiting until next year as planned. Sergio Marchionne made the announcement recently while simultaneously notifying the public of a move of certain employees into a downtown Detroit building after it is remodeled. The move comes from the need to shift space to add employees. It will be the first time the Detroit automaker will inhibit office space in Detroit (as opposed to the currently location in the suburbs). The new building, being renamed Chrysler House will house approximately 70 people in offices later this year.
Sergio did have some harsh words for the Canadian Auto Workers union for striking at a supplier causing a mini-van production plant to be shut down in Ontario. The Chrysler representative was quoted as saying, “”If that’s the basis on which we’re going to move forward I think we’re going to have a very difficult round of (union) negotiations. This is not the way to build a car company.”
