Pickups are tough, beastly things that have grown beyond all practical proportion in recent years; Ram’s offerings perhaps especially so. The new HD models are looking like they’ll go even farther. That’s a good thing for most truck buyers, however. Towing, hauling, and apparently dominating the road are all on the capabilities list for the newest member of Ram’s fold.

One powertrain you can bet will be in the new HD models will be a 6.4-liter V-8 with 410 hp and 429 lb-ft. This is the option that should appear in a new generation of Ram’s 2500 Power Wagon. And for diesel fans there will be the 6.7-liter turbocharged inline-6 from Cummins. This unit supplies a monster 930 lb-ft. With so much twist, you’ll be able to haul well over 30,000 pounds.

“Pickup trucks are huge sellers for the Detroit 3 automakers, so though won’t want to rock the boat when designing a new one. In the first 10 months of the year, the entire light truck market is up 5.2 percent, with Ram selling 374,901 pickups. Even with the new models just around the corner, current sales of Ram’s pickups are up 3.8 percent on the same period last year.”-motorauthority.com

Extreme Ram Test Drives

New Ram Trucks at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Peters

One of the best ways to decide whether or not you like a vehicle is to take a test drive. Of course you can take a test drive at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Peters. Their friendly team is knowledgeable and is sure to help you see all of the great attributes that the different Dodge Ram vehicles have to offer. However, what if you really want to push a Ram to the limit, you might want to take a test drive on The Mojave Road. We want to share with you just what you can expect from this more intense test drive.

One could argue that a Ram Power Wagon is more able than necessary for the Mojave Road, and as long as everything’s going your way it is. However, with questionable weather, that dry lake that sometimes isn’t, a long-wheelbase two-wheel drive and a highway-tire four-wheel-drive truck in the convoy, and solo exploring on the agenda, extra capability is always welcome. And then there’s the fatigue-fighting factors of relaxed body motions on the trail and a quiet highway ride because from almost anywhere the Mojave Road is a highway ride away.

“The Power Wagon’s extra compression suspension travel, well calibrated Bilsteins, and flexible sidewalls (it’s the only three-quarter-ton truck on Load Range D tires) make it surprisingly good for a 7,400-pound truck that also manages highways well.”-autoblog.com

What makes the Mojave Road a great place to test drive the Ram is that on this one road, you encounter nearly every road type and condition, along with every weather condition. There are few places better than this road to get a comprehensive glimpse at Ram performance.

More Power in the 2500 Power Wagon

Ram 2500 Power Wagon at All Star Dodge Ram near Ballwin

While FCA has decided not to redesign all of the larger trucks in the Ram family of vehicles, they did go ahead with refreshing the Ram 2500 that is available at All Star near Ballwin. Today we want to share with you some of the changes that are happening on the 2017 Ram 2500.

More bells and whistles is coming at a bit of a price increase. Prices for the updated 2017 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will climb slightly higher than 2016 prices. The base price of a well-optioned and off-road capable Power Wagon will start at $53,015 (all prices include a $1,320 destination fee), with a top-to-the-line model with all the options going for just less than $60,000. The base 2016 model started at $52,355. The 2017 Power Wagon will go on sale by the end of 2016.

“We’ve spent a good amount of time in the new Power Wagon and like the new look that echoes the design of the popular Ram 1500 Rebel. Thankfully, all the of the same features that have made the Power Wagon an impressive back-country explorer are still in place: a taller stance, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires, a unique five-link front suspension, electronic locking front and rear differentials, a sway-bar disconnect, monotube shocks and an integrated 12,000-pound front winch.”news.pickuptrucks.com

Those looking for more luxury appointments from the new Power Wagon can opt for the Leather & Luxury Package ($4,495), which replaces the cloth tire-tread-imprinted seats with a leather appointed interior, heated and ventilated 40/20/40-split front bench seat, 10-way adjustable driver seat, power folding mirrors, an upgraded security system, the Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen and more.

There are so many great upgrades on the new Ram 2500 Power Wagon, we highly suggest that you head to All Star and test drive one of these impressive vehicles.

Sweet Rack on the Power Wagon

Ram at All Star near St. Louis

Trucks are made for the hard jobs, the dirty jobs, and the hauling jobs. We like it when our favorite trucks get more features that make these jobs easier. One such example is the sweet new rack that is available on the Ram Macho Power Wagon that is available at All Star near St. Louis. Let’s take a closer look at this new rack!

The truck is powered by the normal Power Wagon’s 6.4-liter V8, and it has the stock front winch. This Ram also sports quite a few concept parts besides the wheels and fender flares. Starting at the front and moving rearward, the Macho Wagon gets custom bumpers with skid plates and tow hooks, a new hood with big heat extractors, an LED light bar, a roof rack, single-piece running-boards, and five-inch exhaust tips.

There’s one more custom piece in back. Immediately behind the C-pillar is a sport hoop, under which hides another hoop that can slide along tracks on the bed. These hoops together are called the Ramrack, and when the second hoop is moved back along the bed, it works together with the cab’s roof rack to create a long utility rack. It’s a thoroughly clever way of adding practicality without sacrificing appearances. “We would love to see something like this reach production, since it could be very handy on quad cab pickups with short beds, allowing them to carry long objects without having to drop the tailgate to get them to fit. Because there’s nothing macho about that.” -autoblog.com

Power Wagon Upping Their Game

Los Angeles USA - November 19 2015: Ram 2500 Power Wagon on display during the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Ram 2500 at All Star near Saint Charles

When you want a powerful truck, you think Ram. For years they have provided their customers with incredible trucks that have impressive towing capabilities and that can haul amazing amounts of weight. Today we want to look at the new Ram 2500 Power Wagon that is sure to entice those who are looking for a new truck.

“The 2016 Power Wagon was heavy on the chrome, had an pretty ridiculous optional graphics package, and featured questionable red grille inserts. Ram has addressed this for 2017 by replacing all the chrome with menacing black trim. The billet-silver Ram badge in the nose is the only piece of bright work, and goodness, it all works.”-autoblog.com

Perhaps most importantly, the bits that make the Power Wagon a Power Wagon are more or less unchanged. The 6.4-liter Hemi V8 still produces 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque and is still matched with a 66RFE six-speed automatic and a manually-shifted transfer case. It’ll still tow 10,030 pounds, ford up to 30 inches of water, and has a standard 12,000-pound Warn winch at the front.

Changes elsewhere are much more modest. You can black out the cabin headliner, and the once plain fabric seats have been spiced up with inserts that ape the tread pattern of the standard Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires. It’s a small touch, but it breaks up the otherwise solemn black interior.

For more information on the Ram 2500 Power Wagon, stop by All Star near Saint Charles. Their friendly staff would be more than happy to take you on a test drive and to tell you all about the different features that the Ram 2500 Power Wagon has to offer. It’s time that you get a powerful truck, it’s time that you get the Ram 2500.

Ram Power Wagon Getting ‘Macho’

DETROIT MI/USA - JANUARY 14 2016: Dodge RAM 1500 Rebel truck grille at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), one of the most influential car shows in the world each year.

Ram Trucks at All Star Dodge Ram in MO

It is the time of year when the different auto manufacturers begin to leak information about what the next year’s models might look like and have in the way of features. Ram is no different. One such bit of information that was leaked was regarding the Power Wagon trim that will be available for the Ram truck models. This power wagon trim was designed for those who want to take their truck off road.

Upon seeing the sneak peeks of this truck, some have described it hearkens back to the 1979 “Macho” Power Wagon driven by Gerald McRaney’s character in the classic TV detective show “Simon and Simon.” This is apparently due to the graphics package, which do include some powerful looking vertical bedside stripes.

“Along with the vertical bedside stripes, the Power Wagon now sports a black, snout-like grille just like the one on the smaller Ram 1500 Rebel, black metal bumpers and front skid plate, and RAM lettering across the tailgate that’s big enough to read from space.”

“Standard seats feature synthetic upholstery embossed with the tread pattern from the Power Wagon’s 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, while leather is optional. The overall look of the interior is toughened up with iron grey metallic-painted trim.”

“The Power Wagon comes with a 410 hp 6.4-liter Hemi V8 under its bulging hood, Ram’s “articulink” front suspension with detachable sway bar for extreme off-roading, front and rear locking differentials, 14.3 inches of log-hopping ground clearance, and a 12,000-pound Warn winch with 125 feet of cable.”

This level of commitment on the part of Ram to put out such an impressive off-roading truck is great. It is nice to see this auto maker put out a vehicle that is designed for sport driving. For more information on the specs of the Power Wagon, head to the All Star Dodge Ram Dealer in MO.

Ram 2500: King of the Winter

Los Angeles USA - November 19 2015: Ram 2500 Power Wagon on display during the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Ram 2500 at All Star near Creve Couer

We are just past the middle of January, half down, half to go! This cold winter weather is almost behind us. Living near St. Louis means we get to enjoy all of the seasons but that they are sometimes really extreme. Winter driving can be really tricky at times and it is for this reason that the Ram 2500 from All Star near Creve Coeur is one of the most popular truck purchases; it is great at getting around in rough winter weather!

The Ram 2500 has a durable body and amazing four wheel drive (if you selected this option). The truck itself is heavy enough to help create traction on snowy roads but not to much as to get stuck. The four wheel drive enables you to have amazing amounts of control while driving. Few other truck manufacturers can boast in similar areas. The tires that are on the Ram 2500 are also a pretty big deal. These tires are made for more difficult driving tasks like hauling; this makes them great for getting around in the snow.

Why are tires such a big deal when it comes to winter driving? Does the quality of your tires really matter? The answer is this, tires are a big deal because they are what holds you to the roads when they are covered in ice or snow. Good quality tires will have a hearty tread designed to help create friction in rough conditions. The Ram 2500 can also be equipped with specialty snow tires for an added level of driving control.

For more information on the Ram 2500, head to the All Star Dodge dealer today. They would be more than happy to show you all of the features that make the 2500 King of Winter. Stop by today!
