Is Buying New Right for You?

New Cars at All Star Dodge Ram in Bridgeton

There is a lot of debate over whether it is best to buy a new or used car. Today we are going to share the benefits of buying a new car from All Star Dodge Ram in Bridgeton. All Star has the latest and greatest selection of new cars in the St. Louis area and we are sure that they will have the right new car for you!

Made to Order — Chances are, you can spec a new car just the way you want it, or at least have the dealer search for one with the right combination of options and interior and exterior colors.

It’s Not Used — Well, duh. A new car hasn’t been in any accidents, hasn’t been mistreated by unknown evildoers, doesn’t smell funny, has seen no wear or tear, and comes with a clean history that includes only being driven off the line, onto a transporter, and around the dealer’s lot.

Warranty — Like the rest of it, the new car’s warranty is untouched. You can buy warranties for used cars or go the certified preowned route, but the best warranty you can get—without paying extra—will be the one that comes with a new car from the manufacturer.

Latest Gizmos — “The newer the car, the more modern the geeky tech that’s packed inside. Multimedia and navigation interfaces are constantly evolving and improving, so if you have to have the latest in gadgets (and don’t want to add them yourself post-factory) the selection will be better in the new-car showroom.”-caranddriver.com

Let’s Talk Durango SRT

Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge in Bridgeton

So you find yourself needing something powerful, sporty, and that can haul a number of people. If this is you, then you need to check out the new Dodge Durango SRT at All Star Dodge in Bridgeton. This powerful workhorse offers great agility and comfort all at the same time. Let’s take a deeper look at this powerful model.

Appropriately billed by Dodge as the Charger of SUVs, the Durango SRT starts with the brand’s naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V-8 found in various versions of the aforementioned Charger (as well as the Challenger). The 475-hp engine also boasts 470 lb-ft of torque and is capable of propelling the big brute to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. That’s just two ticks slower than the Challenger 392, which weighs in at a significantly lighter 4,240 lb. “It growls just as properly as it does in the Challenger when pushed, which is always good for a smile — or at least a satisfied smirk. Dodge says the Durango SRT’s eight-speed automatic, which distributes power to all four wheels via a standard all-wheel drive system that can send up to 70 percent of torque to the rear wheels, has been specifically calibrated for the vehicle. Shifts can reportedly be cracked off in as little as 160 milliseconds and there’s a satisfying WHOMP to each one when you have the hammer down.”-automobilemag.com

Its suspension is bolstered by Bilstein adaptive dampers, 3-percent stiffer front springs, 16 percent-stiffer rear springs, and an 18 percent-stiffer rear anti-roll bar. The effect is a surprisingly agile package on track that offers a smooth and comfortable ride on road with minimal NVH aside from the engine’s soundtrack.

The Dodge Charger has been a top seller at All Star Dodge near Arnold since its return. Today we want to take a look at this classic muscle car!

The iconic Dodge Charger received a full-body makeover back in 2015 with an all-new exterior that is spiritually inspired by the iconic second-generation Charger from the late 1960s. The Charger sedan specifically draws its cues from the 1969 model. The Dodge Charger is available in SE, SXT, R/T and R/T Scat Pack models. For 2017 Charger adds all-new Daytona and Daytona 392 models. The new Daytona models offer even more performance and heritage-inspired styling to the naturally aspirated HEMI lineup, including unique SRT Hellcat-inspired functional performance styling for an even more menacing appearance.

Base power for the large RWD Dodge sedan is generated by a 3.6L V-6 Pentastar engine. R/T and Daytona models are outfitted with the automaker’s iconic 5.7L HEMI V-8 with four-cylinder mode fuel saver technology. Torque for the V6 is delivered to the asphalt through an 845 RE TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. The V8 models are bolted to an 8HP70 TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel-drive (AWD) with front-axle disconnect is available on SXT and SE models. (This information is compiled from greenbaypressgazette.com and dodge.com.)

More People Movers Coming for Dodge?

New Dodge at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Peters

One thing that Dodge Ram, or FCA as the parent company is called, has noticed through the years is that buyers love people movers. However, the people movers cannot just be all about utility, they have to be stylish and capable. This is the goal that FCA is looking to accomplish with the introduction of the Dodge Magnum. Today we want to share some more information on this new possible vehicle.

Right now its speculation but one problem of making Dodge’s full lineup more consistent with its image is that the best sellers are the people-movers — the Dodge Journey and Dodge Caravan.

Long ago, product planners were going to fix that by putting the Journey name onto an Alfa Romeo Stelvio-based crossover made in Italy. The current Journey’s role as a people-moving-front-drive-crossover would go to a new Chrysler.

One way to keep repeat Journey and Caravan buyers might be moving the car names over to Chrysler. Thus, the company could launch two new crossovers at once — the Alfa-based Dodge Magnum (etc.), and the CUSW-derived Chrysler Journey.

“There would still be a Journey in the showroom, three rows of seats and all; and there would still be a Caravan for Canadians and some Americans to buy. With that move, Dodge could move one step closer to being the American performance brand, and any lingering rumors about Chrysler’s viability would disappear. That is, if buyers accepted the Journey and Caravan as Chryslers. If not, well, the long-term viability of Chrysler might be seriously discussed in Turin and Auburn Hills.”-allpar.com

Dodge Ram Steel Beauties

New Dodge Ram Cars at All Star Dodge Ram near Wentzville

There has been a lot of talk lately that the different vehicles on the market are going to switch to being made of aluminum. This is not necessarily a bad choice, but it’s not something that Dodge Ram is planning to do any time before the year 2020. We want to take a deeper look at this topic today. You can always get some great Dodge Ram vehicles at All Star Dodge Ram near Wentzville.

While the lightweight metal has historically been the preserve of premium brands and sports cars, Ford shocked the industry when it announced that its 2015 F-150 would go aluminum-intensive for its new generation. “As it turns out, the material change doesn’t even mean a big jump in the prices for most of its trims. Possibly in reaction to the big change, General Motors is said to be using the lightweight metal in its next-gen trucks, too. That only leaves Ram as an open question among the domestics, and at least for now, the company is apparently in no hurry to push tin.”-caranddriver.com

According to Reuters speaking with two, unnamed insiders, the Ram 1500 isn’t getting an aluminum infusion until sometime after 2020. That’s not to say the truck is going to be stagnant for the next half-decade or more, of course. According to Ram’s five-year plan, there’s a refresh for the 1500 coming soon and much bigger changes on the way in 2017 or 2018. Those same sources tell Reuters that further revisions aren’t expected until at least 2021, which is when the aluminum could be added.

The Different Lives of the Dodge Journey

Dodge Journey at All Star Dodge near Illinois

Throughout the years, the Dodge Journey has seen a number of different designs and technologies. What you might not realize is that the Dodge Journey, which is available at All Star Dodge near Illinois, has seen a number of different names over the years too! Why would the Dodge Journey have different names? The different names are because of the different regions in which the Journey is sold. This minivan is so popular that it is found in multiple countries all over the world!

Chrysler rebadged the Mexico-manufactured Journey in Europe after model year 2011 as the Fiat Freemont, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2011, and began marketing the Durango.

The Freemont had its Italian launch in the end of May 2011. It has two front-wheel-drive turbodiesel variants the 140 PS (103 kW; 138 hp) and the 170 PS (125 kW; 168 hp) version of Fiat’s 2.0 L Multijet turbodiesel. Later will be introduced all-wheel-drive version of 170 PS (125 kW; 168 hp) diesel and the Pentastar V6.

In Australia and Brazil, both the Freemont and the Journey are available for sale. However, to create a distinct market for the two vehicles, the Freemont is only available with the 2.0 and 2.4L 4-cylinder engines, while the Journey is now only sold with the Pentastar V6 engine (both engines were available before the launch of the Freemont).

“The Freemont was originally available in LHD markets only, except the Netherlands. Fiat Group Automobiles Netherlands did not offer the Fiat Freemont on the Dutch market, owing to the Dutch tax climate, that would make the car too expensive to become a sales success. However, a RHD model was introduced to Australia, but not the United Kingdom.”-edmonds.com

Where it All Started

New Dodge Cars at All Star Dodge Ram near Florissant

Dodge has a long history of making the automobiles on which this country runs. Started by the Dodge brothers in the early 1900’s, Dodge is now an emblem of an enduring tradition of quality vehicles. We want to take a look at how Dodge got its start.

“The incredible Dodge Main plant in Hamtramck was started in June 1910, completed in the same year, and staffed with five thousand workers ($6 million in annual payroll); the unusual 24-acre multi-story plant had the assembly line moving from floor to floor, eventually becoming extremely complex. According to Greg Kowalski, one reason for choosing Hamtramck was because it was on two railroad lines, once of which went straight to Ford’s new plant.”-allpar.com

John and Horace Dodge were in sharp contrast to Henry Ford when it came to employee care; they did not invade their houses or dictate religious practice, but did have a fully staffed medical clinic, a department to look after workers’ social needs, and, perhaps most significantly, a machine shop called “the Playpen” where men could fix or invent things after hours. Employees were served huge platters of sandwiches and pitchers of beer at lunch hours, paid for by the company. In the heat of summer, beer was served in the afternoons in the foundry and forge. You might say that Dodge was the originator of the Google model of handling employees – give an employee freedom and perks and they will be more loyal and more productive than if you were to treat them other wise.

This is just a small glimpse of the overall history of Dodge, you can learn even more at All Star Dodge Ram near Florissant. Get your own Dodge and become a part of the legacy that the Dodge brothers started all those years ago.

Dodge Ram – Looking Ahead

New Dodge Ram at All Star Dodge Ram near Ellisville

In the auto industry, as with most industries, you are only as good as your last product. This means that they always have to look ahead at how they are going to improve their vehicles in the coming years. This also gives customers a look at what they can expect from the Dodge Ram family of vehicles. Let’s take a look at some of the things we expect to see from Dodge Ram in 2019.

The next generation of Ram 1500 pickup trucks, coded DT, is likely to have some lighter materials accompanying the usual steel, to increase the fuel economy and load capacity. Some models may gain some cab space, as well. It’s scheduled to go into production in early January 2018, as a 2019 model, at the Sterling Heights assembly plant — a move from the traditional Warren plant. The new Rams are supposed to have grilles that are not quite as tall, so they can improve their aerodynamics. The huge Rebel tailgate letters may be replaced by the Ram logo or smaller letters; but the “big rig” styling will continue. The crosshair is said to be returning in force, with Dodge giving it up instead of Ram. Automotive News wrote that the headlights will be smaller and integrated into the grille, with horizontal fog lights put into the bumper; they also projected a flatter center console to provide more space.

“The 1500 is getting a Pentastar upgrade with direct injection should boost power to 310-320 hp, with higher economy and better low end torque. A twin-scroll V6 is expected around 2020, but may arrive earlier; and there’s even talk of a four cylinder turbo, production around 280 hp, as an economy option for fleets.” -allpar.com

Dodge Ram – Ready for Their Close Up!

New Dodge Cars at All Star Dodge Ram near Fenton

We LOVE movies! We especially love movies about cars that feature Dodge Ram vehicles! One series of movies that really highlights the different models in the Dodge Ram lineup, many of which are available at All Star Dodge Ram near Fenton, is the Fast and the Furious movie series. The latest movie, Fast 8, which is set to be released soon, features several different models, which have been modified for the movie of course. (There is some speculation the the “ice” series of Dodge Ram vehicles will be available commercially, but we are not sure about that at this time.) Let’s take a look at the special Dodge Ram vehicles that are being featured in the up coming film.

What else could Dominic Toretto drive than a Dodge? The previous film showed a Charger fitted for off-road driving, and this time the classic shape has been formed into an ice racer. “The muscle car is still recognizable, but the altered wheelbase and fender flares make this something quite different. And as the bullet holes testify, the matte black machine is definitely going to see some action. To top it off, there are some tank-like machines: There’s a tracked Ripsaw for Tej Parker and an “Ice Ram” for Hobbs, who is played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.” – autoblog.com

We are sure that these incredible vehicles will be the stars of the upcoming film, as they often are in the Fast and the Furious films. You can check out the equally fast but not so furious Dodge Ram models featured in the film at All Star Dodge Ram. Talk with the team about how you can get a great Charger or Ram truck today!
