All about the Jeep Patriot

Jeep Patriot at All Star Jeep Dealer near Arnold

The Jeep Patriot at All Star Jeep Dealer near Arnold is an SUV that doesn’t like to toot its own horn, it likes to lay back and enjoy the ride. While the Patriot isn’t the most rough and tumble of the Jeep line up, like the Wrangler is, this model is still up for more than most SUV models. Let’s take a look at what the Jeep Patriot has to offer.

The Jeep Patriot is a compact crossover available in two main trim levels: Sport and Latitude. Both trims offer various subtrims. The Sport trim is sold in Sport SE and 75th Anniversary Edition subtrims, while Latitude buyers can choose the High Altitude subtrim. The base Sport provides 16-inch steel wheels, cruise control, a four-speaker sound system, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port. The Latitude adds heated mirrors, air-conditioning, power accessories, alloy wheels, a height-adjustable driver seat and heated front seats. Options include distinctive flip-down tailgate speakers, a rearview camera, a navigation system, a 6.5-inch touchscreen and roof rails.

The standard engine for front-wheel-drive models is a 158-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 172 hp is optional on front-wheel-drive Patriots and is required on all Patriots that have four-wheel drive. All models come standard with a five-speed manual transmission, and models with the 2.0-liter engine are eligible for an optional continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Patriots with the 2.4-liter engine may be equipped with an optional six-speed automatic, and the sole exception here are models equipped with the Freedom Drive II off-road package. A Patriot Replacement Still Coming?

Jeep Patriot at All Star Jeep Dealer near Fenton

We have heard rumors flying around that there would be a Jeep Patriot replacement would be coming soon, but none has yet to be seen. We did get visual of a possible replacement via some spy shots, but no other pro-types have yet been released. We want to share with you what we think we saw on those spy shots. You can still get the Jeep Patriot at All Star Jeep Dealer near Fenton.

Jeep is currently conducting public road trials of prototypes for its new compact crossover SUV that will replace both the Compass and Patriot.

The new SUV will be positioned between the subcompact Renegade and small Cherokee and make its debut late this year at a special ceremony at Jeep’s plant in Pernambuco, Brazil.

A name is yet to be confirmed though we’ve heard that Jeep is likely to go with either Compass or Patriot, with the former more likely to get the tick because of its greater recognition in markets outside the United States.

Underpinning the vehicle is a stretched version of the platform found in the Renegade, known within FCA as Small-Wide. In fact, earlier test mules used modified Renegade bodies. Also borrowed from the Renegade will likely be an independent suspension setup, with MacPherson struts up front and a Chapman strut design out back.

Inline-4 engines will feature across the range, with the primary unit expected to be a new 2.0-liter turbocharged unit. Expect 6-speed manual and 9-speed automatic options in the transmission department. Front-wheel drive will be standard with all-wheel drive remaining an option. (This information was compiled from motorauthority.com, jeep.com, and our own look at the spy shots.)

2018 Jeep Patriot Coming?

Jeep Patriot at All Star Jeep Dealer near Clayton

We have talked before about how there was going to be a new Jeep model to replace both the Patriot and the Compass, into one super Jeep model. We think that there may be a change in the replacement plan. We say this because it seems as though there is going to be a new Jeep Patriot coming for 2018. We want to take a look at this new model today!

Contrary to the styling we can see on the exciting Patriot model, the replacements for the 2018 Jeep Patriot will lose its blocky look for more modern and close to Grand Cherokee design cues. Indeed, the new Compass model looks like smaller Grand Cherokee but also share a lot of similarities with the Renegade, which is a good thing if you want our opinion.

The Patriot replacement has Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille which resides between nicely accentuated headlights. Profile side features trapezoidal fender flares and pronounced beltline. The rear side also looks more sculpted and there are also new taillights.

On the other hand, what is also important to mention, this new model sits on the “small-wide” unibody platform. This light and stuff unibody structure has been made of 65 percent high-strength steel.

Inside, the model also brings more modern design and the newest technology. The quality of materials is better as well as the comfort.

“The fourth generation of the Uconnect infotainment system will also be there. The system supports Android Auto and Apple Car Play features and different screen sizes. Available will be 5-inch, 7-inch and 8.4-inch touchscreens depending on the trim level. The instrument panel will also be available with either 3.5-inch information display or 7-inch digital cluster.”-suv2018.net

When Did the Jeep Patriot Come Around?

Jeep Patriot at All Star Jeep Dealer near Clayton

One of the amazing Jeep vehicles is the Jeep Patriot. It has been popular since it came out and is available for purchase at All Star Jeep Dealer near Clayton. Today we want to take a look at how the Jeep Patriot got its start.

It is important to note that the Jeep Patriot is considered by some to be the fraternal twin of the Jeep Compass. Both the Jeep Patriot and Compass shared the basic Caliber design, but also had toughened bodies and Trail Rated versions with low-gear AWD and skid plates.

“Styling was similar to the old Jeep Cherokee and the 2008 Jeep Liberty; Testers were surprised by its abilities at rock-climbing, trail-traversing, and stream-crossing. They weren’t in the same class as the Cherokee, but they were better than expected.”-allpar.com

Interior space was aided by the utilitarian form: the Jeep Patriot had 54.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded flat (62.7 if the front passenger seat was also folded). It could hold an 8-foot ladder, skis, or eight-foot lumber. The 2007s had two-tone interiors in dark and light gray or beige. Jeep Patriots sold in the United States and Canada had standard traction control, three-mode stability control, electronic roll mitigation, and anti-lock brakes with rough-road detection. Braking distance from 60 mph was 134 feet on dry pavement. The Jeep Patriot started out with a standard 2.4-liter World Engine that produced 172-horsepower and 165 lb.-ft. of torque, using variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust. “The engine was hooked up to a Chrysler-engineered T355 five-speed manual transaxle and an optional CVT (continuously variable automatic transmission). A 2.0 liter diesel with a six-speed manual transaxle was sold outside North America.”-allpar.com

Patriot Replacement

Jeep Patriot at All Star Jeep Dealer near Mehlville

We have been saying for some time now that the Jeep Patriot would be going away, along with the Jeep Compass and be replaced with a single model. We thought this was going to happen last year, but as it turns out, it is shaping up to be this year that this new replacement model will make its debut. Today we want to talk about what the Jeep Patriot replacement will probably look like.

A small collection of fully camouflaged new compact Jeep crossover vehicles being trailered about somewhere in Europe. Known internally as the C-SUV (compact SUV) and nicknamed the Compatriot by the Jeep cognoscenti, the as-yet-unnamed compact vehicle is slated to replace both the Jeep Patriot and Compass. Even the swirly camo pattern can’t disguise the Jeep-ness of these vehicles: See the shape of the wheel openings, the kicked-up body line in front of the C-pillar, and the baby version of the Grand Cherokee fascia. The finished appearance of the twin exhaust tips and the way they are integrated into the rear skid plate and cosmetic bodywork indicates that the vehicle is nearly ready for prime time. Which is good, since the current Compass and Patriot have been around so long that many people have probably forgotten that they are still available.

“One big point of contention in the current pair is their subpar interior layout and materials. While these images don’t reveal much in that regard, we are at least glad to see the easy-to-use corporate dials and buttons in their familiar positions. A typical FCA screen for access to Uconnect functions resides in the center of the dash, and USB and 12-volt power ports are clearly visible in the console.” -caranddriver.com

Do You Feel Patriotic?

Jeep Patriot at All Star Jeep Dealer near Illinois

When you are shopping for a great Jeep to drive, you might wonder which Jeep at All Star Jeep Dealer near Illinois would be best for you. We are going to talk about the Jeep Patriot and the different things that it offers to its drivers.

Here in the good ol’ U.S. of A. the Patriot uses either the 2.0 L or 2.4 L World gasoline I4 engine. (In Europe and Australia there are some different engine types.)Both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are available. The Patriot features two four-wheel drive systems both of which are electronically controlled. The basic four-wheel drive system is called Freedom Drive I. This system is a full-time front-wheel-drive based 4WD/AWD system that is front-wheel-drive when it has traction, but can automatically put up to 20-30% power to the rear wheels, or can be locked in 50-50 below a certain speed. The other system, called Freedom Drive II, is based on Freedom Drive I, but by using the vehicle’s CVT transmission it is capable of a 19:1 gear reduction simulating a low range usually found in vehicles with dedicated transfer cases. The 2.4 L GEMA I4 is an option for the 4X2 model Patriot. (The Patriot uses a continuously variable transmission equipped with a four wheel drive system, marketed as Freedom Drive II, capable of holding the lowest ratio the CVT can reach, in lieu of a traditional two-speed transfer case. The Patriot carries Jeep’s “Trail Rated” badging.)

In 2009, Jeep Patriot added an extended range electric vehicle to its trim line up. It was not well received and lacked the driving power most Jeep drivers want, so FCA got rid of this model. (This information was compiled from Jeep.com.)
