More Horsepower on the Durango SRT

Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge near Florissant

The Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge near Florissant is an incredibly popular SUV that handles like a dream. For the 2018 year, FCA, the company that owns and manufacturers the Dodge Durango, decided that the SRT model needed more power. Let’s take a look at the more powerful Durango SRT.

The new high-performance vehicle for the Durango nameplate is due out this summer, said Tim Kuniskis, head of Dodge and SRT for FCA North America.

“This now takes everything that was great about the Durango and everything that was awesome about the Charger SRT and combines it into one badass SUV,” he said.

The Durango SRT is powered by the 392-cubic-inch, 6.4-liter V-8 Hemi engine, cranking out 475 horsepower and 470 foot-pounds of torque. It’s mated to an automatic eight-speed transmission and is outfitted with full-time all-wheel drive. The SUV is said to trip the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds, and go from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds.

Dodge updated the the SRT Durango with an aggressive look, upgraded the interior and put a T-shaped electronic shifter inside it instead of a rotary knob, Kuniskis said. It also features updated ride dynamics and shift feel. The exhaust was tuned to sound like the 392 Charger, said Pete Jacobsen, Dodge Durango vehicle development manager.

While it boasts performance, the Durango SRT also will be used as a family-hauling daily driver, Kuniskis said. The interior features driver and family comforts such as a hand-wrapped instrument panel, flat-bottom performance steering wheel with paddle shifters, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated second-row captain’s chairs. The Durango SRT also can tow more than any other three-row SUV and is capable of hauling 8,600 pounds, according to Dodge.

History of the Ram 1500

Ram Trucks at All Star Dodge Ram near Ladue

One of the most loved pick up trucks of all time is the Ram 1500. It has been around for as long as we can remember and has gone through some interesting changes over the years. Today we want to take a look at part of the history of this model. If you would like to get your own Ram 1500, head to All Star Dodge Ram near Ladue. Their team would love to share with you about the Ram 1500 and the other models in the Ram truck line up.

The first-generation Dodge Ram Trucks were designated as 150 (1/2 ton), 250 (3/4 ton), and 350 (1 ton); the designations did not change to 1500, 2500, and 3500 until 1994. The Dodge Ram engines were updated in 1989.

1994 brought about many changes to the design of the Dodge Ram truck including the, very popular, “semi-truck” look. Dodge also introduced it’s 8.0L V10 engine that truck enthusiasts so loved.

The third-generation Dodge Ram made it’s entree in 2002 and sported a larger grille, a new interior, a new frame, and an all new suspension. These new design changes also helped to popularize installing aftermarket Dodge Ram accessories. One interesting happening in 2003 was the entrance of the Dodge Ram SRT-10 which would capture the title of the fastest pickup on earth in 2004 with 500 horses.

2002: New third generation Dodge Ram debuted for the 1500 half ton truck. Major updates included an all new frame, suspension, powertrains, interior options, and sheet metal. “The four wheel drive models dropped the solid front axle and went to independent front suspension. This is the first year for the new 5.7L Hemi engine that produces 100 more horsepower compared to the 5.9L of the last generation.”-autotrucktoys.com

What’s Coming for Ram 1500?

HANNOVER GERMANY - SEP 21 2016: New 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck presented at the International Motor Show for Commercial Vehicles.

Ram 1500 at All Star Dodge Ram in Bridgeton

One of the top models in the Ram lineup of vehicles is the Ram 1500. This truck is built for just about whatever you can throw at it, and as it turns out, it is going to be getting even better! We want to share some information on the improvements!

The next generation of Ram 1500 pickup trucks, coded DT, is likely to have some lighter materials (without entirely forsaking steel) for higher fuel economy and higher load capacity. Some models may gain some cab space. It’s set to go into production in early January 2018, as a 2019 model, at the Sterling Heights assembly plant — built to make jet engines.

The new Rams are supposed to have grilles that are not quite as tall, so they can improve their aerodynamics. The huge Rebel tailgate letters may be replaced by the Ram logo or smaller letters; but the “big rig” styling will continue. The crosshair is said to be returning in force, with Dodge giving it up instead of Ram. Automotive News wrote that the headlights will be smaller and integrated into the grille, with horizontal fog lights put into the bumper; they also projected a flatter center console to provide more space.

“The Pentastar upgrade with direct injection should boost power to 310-320 hp, with higher economy and better low end torque. There have been rumors that the 5.7 liter “Apache” Hemi engines will be upgraded, but major changes may have been abandoned, and the company may even be running on stockpiled Hemis after 2018. A twin-scroll V6 is expected around 2020, but may arrive earlier.” -allpar.com

Ram 2500 4WD Tough

Los Angeles USA - November 19 2015: Ram 2500 Power Wagon on display during the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Ram 2500 at All Star Dodge Ram near Mehlville

One of the very best truck manufacturers on the market today is Ram. They make strong and powerful trucks that can handle anything that you throw at them. Today we want to share with you some of great things about the Ram 2500 4WD. If you have any additional questions be sure to contact All Star Dodge Ram near Mehlville.

It’s super tough – The 2015 Ram 2500 is clearly one of the toughest pickup trucks on the market. When working in a rugged environment, the truck’s tank-like build quality enables it to take a pounding. Owners can also look forward to an incredibly long service life. The truck’s overall durability gives it a big advantage over a regular pickup truck.

It’s got a Hemi – Over the last decade, the Hemi engine has reemerged as one of the most powerful V-8 engines on the market. With a total output of 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, the 6.4-liter engine provides plenty of muscle. When fitted with the proper towing accessories, the V8-powered Ram 2500 can tow up to 16,300 pounds.

It’s got diesel power – In terms of sheer power, the 6.7-liter Cummings diesel engine is a spectacular performer. With the assistance of a turbocharger, the beastly engine is able to pump out 370 horsepower and a monumental 800 pound-feet of torque. It can pull hefty loads with ease. In fact, the diesel-powered Ram 2500 has a towing capacity of nearly 18,000 pounds.

It’s a 4×4 – The truck’s capable 4WD system gives it an extra level of ruggedness. When traveling in snow or deep mud, the tires just keep churning. Drivers will find the enhanced traction to be extremely useful throughout the year. In an effort to enhance the truck’s versatility, Ram also designed the 2500 with a tow/haul mode.

Dodge Durango – Safety First

GENEVA SWITZERLAND - MARCH 4: Dodge Durango on display during the Geneva Motor Show Geneva Switzerland March 4 2014. ** Note: Visible grain at 100%, best at smaller sizes

Dodge Durango at All Star near Ellisville

We love the Dodge Durango from All Star near Ellisville. It is roomy and has the option for a Hemi engine. What a lot of people often forget is that the Dodge Durango is also incredibly safe. Today we would like to share with you some information on the safety features that are offered by Dodge on the Durango.

In today’s world, it is not enough just to be stylish with a powerful engine, the new suv Dodge Durango in St Louis has to be safe as well. There are a number of safety systems that come included with this SUV. While the dual front side-mounted airbags and the front, rear, and thrid row head airbags are more traditional, dusk sensing headlamps and brake drying stand out as extras that are there to make your drive even more safe.

To ensure the safety of its passengers in the event of an accident, the Dodge Durango comes with a post-collision safety system that engages certain systems on the SUV to help protect you and your passengers.

The Dodge Durango comes with a basic alarm system that can be upgraded to a more advanced security system; ask an All Star team member for more details.

We know of someone who recently was able to avoid an accident thanks to the safety features that their Durango has. It started raining very hard all of a sudden on this family’s drive home. The car in front of them began to bydroplane, lost control, and hit a car in the next lane. The family in the Durango was able to stop quickly without the worry of trouble because of the braking drying system and advanced stopping system. You too can be safe if you drive a Dodge Durango.

What’s Coming for the 2018 Ram 1500?

Ram 1500 at All Star Dodge Ram near Glendale

There were some big announcements over the last week about what we might expect to see on the Ram 1500 that will be coming out in 2018. There were some spy shots released and we got a little peak at what is coming down the line. Today we want to share with you a little bit of what we saw. We will expect to see this new model in late 2017 at All Star Dodge Ram near Glendale. (It could be a little later than that if there are some things that need to get smoothed out.)

“The trucks, coded DT, may gain some cab space, and are likely to have lighter materials for higher fuel economy. Six-speed automatic transmissions will only be on entry-level pickups; others will have eight-speeds.” -allpar.com

We expect more sophisticated, belt-starter generator stop-start systems to be used on many models and work on invisibly cutting parastic losses to continue.

The new Rams are reportedly to have narrower grilles, not quite as tall, so they can improve their aerodynamics. The huge Rebel tailgate letters may be replaced by the Ram logo or smaller letters; but the “big rig” styling will continue. The crosshair grille is said to be returning in force, with Dodge giving it up instead of Ram, based on popular opinion

“The Pentastar upgrade is likely to hit the Ram, with a mild power boost (beyond 300 hp), higher economy, and better low end torque; a more major upgrade is expected soon, and whether it reaches the 2018 Ram 1500 is unknown to us. There have been rumors that the 5.7 liter “Apache” Hemi engines will be upgraded, but major changes may have been abandoned.” -allpar.com
