More Horsepower on the Durango SRT

Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge near Florissant

The Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge near Florissant is an incredibly popular SUV that handles like a dream. For the 2018 year, FCA, the company that owns and manufacturers the Dodge Durango, decided that the SRT model needed more power. Let’s take a look at the more powerful Durango SRT.

The new high-performance vehicle for the Durango nameplate is due out this summer, said Tim Kuniskis, head of Dodge and SRT for FCA North America.

“This now takes everything that was great about the Durango and everything that was awesome about the Charger SRT and combines it into one badass SUV,” he said.

The Durango SRT is powered by the 392-cubic-inch, 6.4-liter V-8 Hemi engine, cranking out 475 horsepower and 470 foot-pounds of torque. It’s mated to an automatic eight-speed transmission and is outfitted with full-time all-wheel drive. The SUV is said to trip the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds, and go from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds.

Dodge updated the the SRT Durango with an aggressive look, upgraded the interior and put a T-shaped electronic shifter inside it instead of a rotary knob, Kuniskis said. It also features updated ride dynamics and shift feel. The exhaust was tuned to sound like the 392 Charger, said Pete Jacobsen, Dodge Durango vehicle development manager.

While it boasts performance, the Durango SRT also will be used as a family-hauling daily driver, Kuniskis said. The interior features driver and family comforts such as a hand-wrapped instrument panel, flat-bottom performance steering wheel with paddle shifters, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated second-row captain’s chairs. The Durango SRT also can tow more than any other three-row SUV and is capable of hauling 8,600 pounds, according to Dodge.

Dodge Durango is the Right Size

Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge near Florissant

Lately it would seem as though certain governmental agencies would like for us to drive around in tiny little clown cars. They claim they are better for the environment and so one. The problem that we see is that many people just do not fit in those tiny little cars. If you are more than five feet and five inches tall and weight more than one hundred and fifty pounds just are not going to ride very comfortably in this clown cars. If you do not fit the above classifications, or just want more room for your family, then you need to check out the Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge near Florissant.

The Dodge Durango is a roomy SUV that is built to accommodate its driver and passengers comfortably. It also has a powerful engine that is capable of any road trip. The Dodge Durango is powered by a 293-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 or a 360-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Base SXT and volume-leader GT models get the V-6; sporty R/T and premium Citadel models get the V-8. All models come with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive but there are important differences: SXT and GT models get a single-speed, full-time system that lacks a low range, something addressed by the two-speed, active-on-demand system on R/T and Citadel trims. This means if you need a low range for off-road duties, you have to opt for a V-8. (Compiled from dodge.com and detroitnews.com)

Where are You Going?

Jeep Grand Cherokee at All Star Jeep Dealer near Florissant

“Where are you going?” This is a question that is asked to find out, in the short term, where you are going. What if we expanded the scope of the question to mean in the long term? This long term question is one that Jeep asked itself in the early 1990’s. Jeep had been a successful auto maker for a long time but were looking for a way to begin competing with the larger scale SUV models that were on the market.

Three trim levels were initially offered; base, Laredo and Limited. All models boasted two features not seen on other vehicles in the Grand Cherokee’s class: a driver’s side airbag and four-wheel antilock brakes. Base models had a few notable features such as full instruments, cloth interior and a five-speed manual gearbox. The Laredo added body cladding, fancier seats, power mirrors and cruise control. And the top-of-the-line Limited came with leather seating, A/C, four-speed automatic transmission, upgraded sound system and power everything. Later in the 1993 model year, the Grand Wagoneer debuted — essentially a G.C. Limited with simulated woodgrain tacked onto the body sides, just like dad’s old Ford LTD Country Squire Wagon.

Built on a stiff unibody chassis, which was lighter than a truck-like body-on-frame arrangement, the Grand Cherokee’s 105.9-inch wheelbase was 4.5-inches longer than the Cherokee’s, resulting in more legroom for those riding in the back. (This information was gathered from edmonds.com and jeep.com.)

This new Jeep Grand Cherokee model was so well received that it became a permanent part of the Jeep line up and added several other trim options. We invite you to head to All Star near Florissant and check out the incredible trims that the Jeep Grand Cherokee has to offer. The All Star team is waiting and ready to help!

Changes Coming for 2018

Jeep Wrangler at All Star Jeep Dealer near Florissant

The Jeep Wrangler is and has always been one of the top selling models in the Jeep lineup for many years. In order to try and keep ahead of the curve, and anticipate what their customers will want. Today we want to share with you some of the things that we can expect to see on the 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

What will the platform look like? Jeep will continue with rugged body-on-frame construction to serve the off-roading aspirations of its faithful and multiplying constituents. That said, the coming edition will use modern materials to cut weight and boost mileage. Expect a hydroformed steel ladder frame carrying a body made of high-strength steel, aluminum, and plastic. A four-door pickup will join the lineup of two- and four-door models with hard- and softtops.

What about the powertrain? Today’s 3.6-liter DOHC V-6 will soldier on with manual and automatic transmissions. Fiat Chrysler’s current product plan also includes a turbo-diesel alternative in the near term and a hybrid after 2020, along with a possible turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder code-named “Hurricane” making around 300 horsepower.

What about the Competition? The Wrangler is without peer, a gully-busting rock climber you can drive to work. Compact crossovers bow in its presence. A new Land Rover Defender, expected next year, may re-invade this sphere, though at twice the price.

There really is no possible comparison for Jeep Wrangler, especially after these changes are done. We are sure that you will love all of the changes that are coming for the Jeep Wrangler. We encourage you to stop by All Star Jeep Dealer near Florissant and learn more about the Wrangler. You might even want to test drive this delightful model, but be careful, you might just fall in love!

There are a lot of great SUV models in the Jeep lineup, but one that stands out is the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Today we want to share with you some of the great attributes that the Jeep Grand Cherokee has to offer its owners.

SO Much Entertainment – Large vehicles are great for ferrying passengers, and the 2016 Grand Cherokee keeps them entertained too. There are 19 Harmon Kardon speakers, and riders can link up with the vehicle’s Uconnect entertainment system via Bluetooth or USB. In short, parents may finally get a chance to enjoy longer voyages.

It’s Safe – In addition to the standard complement of legally-approved driver and passenger airbags, this vehicle includes head airbags for added crash protection. To reduce the likelihood of getting in a wreck in the first place, the 2016 Grand Cherokee features strong, anti-lock disc brakes with assist technology. Electronic stability and traction controls may also improve a motorist’s chances of staying out of trouble.

Lots of Cargo Space – All that towing capacity doesn’t go to waste in the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle includes around 36 cubic feet of space for gear, baggage, and other cargo immediately behind the rear seating. Those who like to drive without many passengers can fold the rear seats down to almost double the cargo volume. According to testers, the extra space also means that the rear compartment is comfortable for taller riders.

Let’s Buy a Used Car!

SAN JOSECA/USA - MAY 24 2014: Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram automobile dealership sign. All are part of the Chrysler Motor Company an American automobile manufacturer.

Used Cars at All Star Dodge near Florissant

When you are shopping for a different vehicle, you first need to answer a very important question – will you buy a new car or a used car? Today we want to share with you some of the benefits of buying a used car at All Star Dodge near Florissant.

Better Price – It’s nice to ride in a car that no one has ever owned before, with that new car smell and feel. But, that scent, brand new upholstery without a single flaw, and single digit mileage doesn’t come cheap. The price gap between new and used vehicles was around $20,000 as of earlier this year, according to Cars.com.

The interest rates on new cars do tend to be slightly lower than they are on used cars, however. Bankrate reports the average 48-month rates on new cars at 4%, while used car rates are slightly higher — at 4.99%. In spite of the higher rates, in most cases, you still end up with a much smaller total bill when you opt for a used vehicle.

No Value Lost – “Not only do new cars lose a large portion of their value immediately, they are also precious to new car owners who feel a gut punch when normal wear and tear inevitably happens. Some new cars lose as much as 40% of their value during the first year,” (cheatsheet.com). “With a used car, there’s no depreciation hit the second you roll off the lot. There’s also less mental depreciation, no need to worry about the first parking-lot ding or rock chip in the paint because chances are the car’s previous owner or owners took care of those for you,” Car and Driver reports.

Dodge Journey at All Star near Florissant

The Dodge Journey is a truly fantastic vehicle that is great for those who want a quality family vehicle. Today we want to share with you some of the wonderful attributes of the Dodge Journey. If you have any questions on this model, head to All Star near Florissant.

“If you want to transport a whole family or lots of cargo with greater ease, then upgrading to the optional V6 engine should be a no brainer. You’ll get 110 more horsepower and be able to effortlessly pass other cars on the highway or speed around town, even with a full complement of cargo and people. Choosing the V6 won’t cost you much in terms of fuel economy, which is a common deterrent to picking a more powerful engine.” -usnews.com

With its base engine, the Journey gets 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which are just about average numbers for the class. The V6 reduces fuel efficiency only slightly to 17 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway.

Inside the Journey’s cabin, you’ll find quality materials and surfaces that are mostly soft to the touch. Two rows of seats are standard in the Journey, and all passengers should find plenty of comfort and room to relax on long road trips. The front seats are particularly supportive, which you’ll like if you drive a lot. Second-row legroom, always a precious commodity, is also ample.

This vehicle has a lot of great space and a very comfortable interior. We think that it would be the perfect vehicle for your family! Stop by All Star and work with a member of their team. They would be more than happy to help you get behind the wheel of the great Dodge Journey!

We have heard about how there seems to be an unemployment problem in the United States. A lot of companies have been taking their jobs overseas to countries with more favorable tax codes. One company that is increasing their U.S. production is Jeep. Jeep proudly produces most of their vehicles in the U.S. (This actually works great, because if you custom order a Jeep Cherokee through All Star near Florissant, you will get it sooner than if it had to get shipped from overseas.)

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles plans to hire 300 new workers at its huge factory in Belvidere as it revamps the facility to produce the Jeep Cherokee.

“FCA USA, as the auto manufacturer is also called, said today it will invest $350 million in the factory to ready it for the Jeep Cherokee, one of the company’s top sellers during an auto sales boom that resulted in a record number of sales in the U.S. last year.” -chicagobusiness.com

The Cherokee move to Belvidere has long been rumored, but today’s announcement was the first time Fiat Chrysler confirmed it.

“The Belvidere workforce has proven itself to be one that is very efficient and productive,” Jodi Tinson, a spokeswoman for the manufacturer, said when asked why the company wanted to invest in the northern Illinois plant. Fiat Chrysler employs about 4,500 people at the factory right now, meaning the additional jobs will eventually bring the tally to 4,800.
