The Ram 3500 at All Star Dodge Ram near Town and Country is a top pick up truck. It is highly capable and comfortable to ride in. Today we want to talk a little bit about how the Ram 3500 pick up truck got its start.

The Ram 3500 was part of a radical for the Dodge full-sized truck line-up that emerged during 1994. Existing as the largest capacity version of the pickup truck, the dual rear wheel, one-ton Dodge Ram 3500 featured an eight-foot long bed box and power from a host of potent engines. A 5.9-liter Magnum V-8 furnished base power for the 1998 Ram 3500 generating 250 horsepower.

Optional engines available with the Dodge Ram 3500 in 1998 consisted of a gasoline-powered Magnum V-10 and a Cummins diesel. Rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations were offered with the pickup truck. In 2001, a Ram 3500 equipped with the 5.9-liter Cummins turbocharged diesel mated to a six-speed manual transmission could pull up to 15,100 pounds of weight using a 4.10 rear gear.

“In 2003, a new version of the one-ton Dodge pickup truck featured a larger front grille and was offered with a regular cab or Quad Cub body style. A four-door Mega Cab was added to the Ram 3500 line-up starting in the 2006 model year. The 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 came with standard power from a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine producing 345 horsepower. A 305-horsepower 8.0-liter Magnum V-10 powerplant was offered for the final time in 2003 on the Dodge Ram 3500.”-nadaguides.com

“Big Johnny was by far the best salesman I’ve ever had to work with! He was so nice and friendly and honestly just relate-able. He never once made us feel pressured or like we were just customers. He made us feel like family.” – Jacob

This is my first time buying a car, I had gone to a dealership before this one who treated me horribly as they saw me as a 20 year old who will do whatever they want. Big Johnny was so kind from the moment we met him, he did so much to get exactly what I wanted and everything he told me was the truth and to help me in the long run. I will recommend this place to all of my friends and tell them to make sure to go to Big Johnny. I’m in love with my Dodge Charger and being a 20 year old and having one is one of the biggest blessings. Also the finance manager was amazing and very helpful getting my payment plan together. I can’t thank you guys enough! Thank you so much Johnny, I’ll be coming here for all my car purchases! -A huge fan of the Dodge Charger

It doesn’t only offer great drivability, but it also has an incredibly comfortable interior. Just because you work hard, doesn’t mean you can’t ride in comfort! Today we want to look at the history of the Ram 2500; where it started and how far it has come.

three-quarter ton version of the Dodge Ram, the 2500 combined the provocative pickup truck design with a selection of powerful, work capable powerplants. In 1998, the Ram 2500 was offered with Sweptline, Club Cab or the all-new Quad Cab body style. Presented with rear-wheel and four-wheel drivetrain choices, Dodge trucks base engine was a 250-horsepower 5.9-liter Magnum V-8.

Another gasoline powerplant available on the 1998 Ram 2500 was an 8.0-liter Magnum V-10 generating 300 horsepower. Producing up to 460 pound-feet of torque, a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six engine was also offered as an option. The Ram 2500 could tow up to 14,000 pounds depending on the engine and drivetrain.

One year after the Ram 1500 received a styling and mechanical modernization, the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 sported the larger grille as well as reshaped headlamp housings. Four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system, AM/FM with cassette and 17-inch wheels were standard on the 2003 Ram 2500. While a live axle rear suspension was abandoned by the halt-ton version of the Dodge pickup truck, the 2003 Ram 2500 retained the setup. Dodge Parts? More Please!

Dodge Parts at All Star Dodge near Town and Country

It is absolutely no secret that we LOVE Dodge Ram vehicles and one of their great dealers, All Star Dodge near Town and Country. It is also no secret that we love the Dodge parts at All Star as well. In the beginning, before the Dodge brothers built their first car, they were a huge manufacturer of auto parts. The Dodge brothers gained such notoriety for their quality of parts that Mr. Olds, you might know him from Oldsmobile, decided to make the Dodge brothers the primary manufacturers of their engine parts. However, Oldsmobile was not the only auto maker who wanted to get Dodge parts in their cars.

On February 23, 1903 the Dodge brothers formally agreed to supply Henry Ford with 650 chassis (including engines, transmissions, and axles) for $250 each, thus beginning a profitable relationship between the two firms. This contract kept the 150 men at the Hastings Street plant fully occupied and the Dodges began working exclusively for Ford. He built a plant on Mack Avenue to assemble cars from parts made elsewhere, the entire operation dependent upon extensive credit from his parts suppliers. In return for an investment of $10,000 ($7,000 in materials and a $3,000 bank note), the Dodge brothers accepted 100 shares (one-tenth of the total) in the Ford Motor Company., newly-incorporated on June 16, 1903. Dodge delivered the first shipment of chassis to Mack Avenue in July via horse-drawn hayracks and the Ford Motor Company assembled its first cars. (Part of this information was compiled from dodgemotorcar.com). It is not uncommon to find Dodge parts in old Ford models.

To get your own Dodge Parts, head to All Star Dodge. Their parts department is stocked with knowledgeable technicians that will help you get the right parts for whatever job you need to get done!

Dodge Ram Used Cars – Perfect for Long Term

Used Cars at All Star Dodge Ram in MIssouri

It is widely known that Dodge has been innovator in the auto industry since the early days, as in the early days of the car itself. It is this long legacy that makes each Dodge Ram model such a great vehicle. They are built to last. This means that when you decided to by a Used Car from All Star Dodge Ram in Missouri, you are getting a vehicle that will last you a long time. We want to share with you a little bit about the Dodge brothers that started this long lasting legacy.

The Dodge Brothers were skilled machinists from a modest background. John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge were two of the three children of Daniel Rug and Maria Dodge of Niles, Michigan. They attended public schools, but learned the machinist’s trade from their father, who ran a shop specializing in internal combustion engines for marine use. The inseparable brothers built the first bicycle in Niles.

Horace Dodge invented a four-point, dirt proof, adjustable bicycle ball bearing and in 1897 the two brothers established the Evans & Dodge Bicycle Company with Fred S. Evans and leased the Typograph Company plant for two years. In 1900, they sold their interests, returned to Detroit, and established a machine shop in the Boydell Building on Beaubien Street at Lafayette. They began with only twelve employees, but quickly established a reputation for excellent workmanship. Ransom E. Olds erected the first automobile plant in Detroit in 1899 and by early 1901 the Dodge machine shop supplied him with engines. Olds followed with an order for 3,000 transmissions in 1902, making the Dodge brothers one of the largest parts suppliers for the nascent Detroit automobile industry.(Some of this information was compiled from dodgemotors.com). The Dodge brothers grew their knowledge from a small bike shop to a manufacturing empire.

The More You Know!

Used Cars at All Star near Fenton

We love the Dodge Ram line up of vehicles. They are stylish and iconic, and by George, just fun to drive. We want to take a further look at the history of Dodge Ram. To become part of the Dodge Ram legacy, check out the used cars at All Star near Fenton.

The Ram line was redesigned for the 1994 model year. Development on a second generation began in 1986, ending in late 1992. A more conventional design was originally scheduled for a 1991 production; when Bob Lutz showed it to the new styling designers, chief designer Phillip E. Payne told him, “It looks like nothing more than a rehash of everybody else’s truck.” At that, Lutz told him he had 6 months to come up with something better. The exterior styling of the truck that was eventually released was the result of design concepts by Payne during 1988-1990. A review by the Dodge pick-up truck studio designers felt that modern pick-ups looked “too flat and sedan like”, while the early 50’s Studebaker pick-up and the 18 wheeler trucks had just the right “macho” look to them. The design featured a big-rig-looking front end and a large grille that was nothing like the current Ford or Chevy/GMC pickups in design.

The redesigned 1994 Ram was a sales success, with sales rocketing from 78,000 units in 1993 to 240,000 in 1994, 410,000 in 1995, and nearly 480,000 in 1996. That year, it was prominently featured as the hero vehicle in the film Twister. Sales of this generation peaked at just over 400,000 in 1999 before declining against the redesigned Ford and GM trucks. By 2001, Ram sales figures were below those of Ford and Chevy trucks. Not New ’til 2019?

Ram 1500 at All Star Dodge Ram near Clayton

One of the most loved trucks in America is the Ram 1500 that is available at All Star Dodge Ram near Clayton. It is durable and hard-working, and is easy to drive. We thought and were hoping that the Ram 1500 would be redesigned in late 2017 or early 2018, but it turns out that it will likely be 2019 before we see the redesigned 1500. We are going to explore this a little today.

The move to wait until 2019 to release the new model, allows Ram to take a two-prong approach to truck sales, offering the current model as a low-cost option for fleet users while pushing retail consumers toward the new pickup. The factories that build the 1500 today – Warren, MI, and Saltillo, Mexico – will assemble around 200,000 trucks in 2018 and 65,000 in 2019 before Ram phases out the older model. Meanwhile, FCA’s Sterling Heights, MI, plant will screw together 325,000 redesigned 1500s starting in 2018, with production to increase to over 400,000 units in 2019.

While Ram refused to comment when AN reached out, FCA CFO Richard Palmer hinted at the move during a conference call last week, saying “having more pickup capacity will allow us also to satisfy the fleet customers’ demand on pickup, which we struggle to do today because we favor retail in the U.S. and Canadian volume, which have higher margins.”

“As we realign our capacity, we’re going to be able to continue to work on improving our fleet mix,” Palmer said. Beyond making a play for fleet buyers, continuing to build the current 1500 guarantees dealerships maintain a solid inventory as Ram ramps up production of the new truck. It has been suggested that the Ram 1500 will not use aluminum, instead it will rely on steel.
