Did Someone Say, “Charger”?

Dodge Charger at All Star Dodge Ram near Kirkwood

At All Star Dodge Ram near Kirkwood, they are big fans of the Dodge Charger. This classic muscle car was huge in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, but then faded into the backdrop in the late 1970’s. However, in the late 2000’s Dodge decided to revive this model and bring back the classic model styling and adding all of the technologies of the day. Let’s talk a little more about the Charger!

The Dodge Charger rear-wheel-drive sedan is about the closest thing America has to an old-school muscle car, while now being comfortable and user friendly, with modern technology.

For 2015, it was refreshed at every body panel except the roof and rear doors, but its design remains retro as intended. The 2017 Charger upgrades the infotainment system with an improved touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. New wheels and retro hound’s-tooth upholstery are also available on 2017 Dodge Chargers.

Base engine is a responsive 3.6-liter V6 making 292 horsepower, followed by a 5.7-liter V8 making 370 horsepower, a 6.4-liter V8 making 485 hp, and last but clearly not least is the horsepower king, the SRT Hellcat, a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 making 707 humongous horsepower. It will go 204 miles per hour. It’s surprisingly composed for a beast.

Charger V6 models use an 8-speed automatic, and have available all-wheel drive. Acceleration is quick enough to stay ahead of traffic.

Charger V8 versions, also with an 8-speed automatic, bring enough acceleration to enable relaxed passing at just half throttle.

To test drive the powerful Dodge Charger, head to All Star. Their team would love to show you all of the performance characteristics of this impressive model. We think that it is time to bring back the days of the muscle car – with the help of the Dodge Charger!

The Plymouth Superbird PKG for Dodge Cars St. Louis

classic dodge cars st. louis-the dodge daytonaAll Star Dodge Dealer, home of a wide selection of new Dodge cars St. Peters in Missouiri knows that the Plymouth Superbird conversion package is a great choice for new Dodge cars that will be transformed to mimic the Plymouth Superbird.

The base package features a revamped front fascia, sporty headlights that pop up, oversized rear wings, upgraded taillights, and 20 inch sport wheels. Also included as part of the package are some great interior touches such as an updated instrument cluster and shifter, as well as HHP floor mats.

Other options for the aftermarket package include; a ventilated hood, custom seats, and a painted interior trim, as well as 3 different superchargers for the 6.1 liter HEMI V8 engine as well as 3 coilover suspension options.

The 1969 Dodge Daytona was an iconic Dodge car, considered one of the fastest muscle cars in in its time, in fact it was so fast that it held the record for speed for nearly 13 years.  Daytona had a massive spoiler added to the back to help the vehicle maintain its traction. With a standart 440 CC engine that produced 375 HP, air would actually go underneath the vehicle and lift it.  Even faster, the 426 HEMI (designed for racing) produced a whopping 425 HP.Compared to some of the modern day Dodge muscle cars such as the Viper-the draft coefficient was not nearly as impressive.  Viper’s coefficient in the first generation was .5 and Dodge Daytona came in at just .28.  The Daytona had one interesting fluke; if it was driven too slow, it would end up getting too hot and the engine could actually overheat.

Believe it or not the Daytona was actually built like an option package from Dodge Chargers which were converted with a metal rear spoiler, front wedge over the nose, an under-nose spoiler, vertical stabilizers, and a backlight modification,  Then later Plymouth did just about the same thing to its Road Runner and the Plymouth Superbird was born.  It was a bit slower than the Daytona with a top speed of 160 miles per hour in a fund to drive vehicle.

Dodge Dealers Announce Refresh for 2015 Charger

new Dodge Charger in MOAll Star new Dodge Dealer in St. Louis, home of a wide selection of new Dodge Chargers, is pleased to announce the new 2015 Dodge Charger is scheduled to be unveiled in mid-2014.

The redesign may not be a complete revamping, (which may be postponed until around 2017) but in late 2012 Chrysler announced that it would have an “unexpected L-car refresh, covering Charger and 300/300C,” according to AllPar.com. So the 2015 Charger will be a “polish-and-update of the current cars.”

Many car experts felt that the Charger and 300C would receive an 8 speed automatic as standard in 2015, which would make the V8 Police Car more competitive against Chevy’s V8 Caprice Police Vehicle.

A major revision of the front suspension is less likely, “moving from the Mercedes-influenced high-wishbone design to Maserati’s new low-stacked wishbone, as seen in the Maserati Ghibli. However, Chrysler engineers are likely to do what they can to edge closer to the livelier Maserati configuration, without causing too much disruption at the plant.”

The Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300C are each expected to be phased in at various points in time, which according to AllPar.com may limit just how many changes are feasible.  Ralph Gilles has reported that the Chrysler 300C will not be “moving to the new Chrysler styling theme for this refresh, because the changes would be too extensive, the rear suspension may or may not adopt some of the Ghibli tuning changes, where time and cost permit,” says AllPar.

“The speculative rendering above wraps current Dodge cues around the shape of the Ghibli, and might be a rough pointer as to where the Charger will end up in its 2017-2020 reincarnation,” says Dodge News report, AllPar.com.

Dodge vehicles with the new transmission will pay an extra $1,000.  The Chrysler 300 entry level with the new fuel efficient 8 speed transmission will start at $28,995 and the Dodge Charger SE will be priced at $27,320.

An All Wheel Drive 8 speed with paddle shifters will be available in the 400 and the Charger.  Chrysler and Dodge also will offer eight-speed, all-wheel-drive versions of the 300 and the Charger.

According to Chrysler News; “Chrysler is licensing the 8 speed transmission from German supplier ZF Friedrichshafen AG, which produces eight-speeds for luxury brands including Audi, Bentley, BMW, Range Rover and Rolls-Royce. The transmission initially is being imported from ZF in Germany. Chrysler will begin making the eight-speed next year in Kokomo, Ind.”

Chrysler will also launch an 8 speed Penastar V6 in the new Dodge Ram 1500 full sized pickup truck.  Other possible models to get the new transmission include the Dodge Durango and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Chrysler is developing a new 9 speed automatic transmission for FWD vehicles with transverse mounted engines which are scheduled to be available in 2013.  This transmission could be used in Chrysler minivans, mid-sized cars and crossovers like the Dodge Journey.

Chrysler also is working with ZF to develop a nine-speed automatic for front-drive vehicles with transverse-mounted engines. That gearbox should be available in 2013 and could be used in Chrysler’s two minivans, mid-sized cars and crossovers such as the Dodge Journey.

“Fast Five” Gets A Charge Out of Dodge

All Star Dodge in Bridgeton Mo., knows that some time ago  Hollywood realized that products that appear in the movies can have a huge impact on consumer goods. Over the years, many companies have worked with movie studios to find ways of having their products integrated into a film or television series. This is called product placement.

Recently, Universal Studios had a huge opening weekend for “Fast Five” the sequel to “The Fast and the Furious.” In this new incarnation, the Dodge Charger is featured front and center as the muscle car of choice for the film’s racers. This is going to make every Dodge dealer very happy as more folks will be heading out to the showrooms to check out the Charger for themselves.

In the first “Fast and Furious” feature, the anti-hero Dom (Vin Diesel) drove a Charger. This didn’t have anything to do with product placement. It was just the perfect car for that character. Ten years later, Chrysler wised up and worked with the filmmakers to provide all the Dodge Chargers they needed to tell the story. When you consider that the entire theme of this movie centers on power performing muscle cars, you can imagine how valuable it would be for an auto maker to have its product on prominent display. Not only will you see the Charge in the film but also in all kinds of promotional videos and behind-the-scenes photos.

Of course in a film that is all about cars, it’s important for an automaker to insure its brand gets noticed. In the first feature there were 58 different types of cars. For this sequel there were only 30 models which means the Dodge Charger got to really be the star of the show!

A Glance At What’s New With 2011 Chargers

The Charger is a full-size sports sedan that has been dazzling automotive connoisseurs since 2005. For this year’s model Charger, there are quite a few improvements that have made to provide an even better driving experience.

The V8 engines of the 2011 Dodge Chargers are basically the same as those that were available in 2010. A quick comparison shows that the same type of 5.7-liter Hemi V8 was used in Chargers for both model years. What has been altered is the V6 engine that comes with certain new Charger models. Available now is the upgraded and more powerful 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 2011 Charger engine. This engine takes the place of the 2.7 and 3.5-liter versions that were available with previous models.

This 2011Charger is a good example of things that only get better with age. Besides the power source upgrades, 2011 Chargers received a bit of an interior makeover as well. Handsome styling and quality materials function to provide a more lavish cabin space. Sirius Travel Link service is newly available too. This service allows users to do everything from checking out the local gas prices to accessing live weather information. Cross Traffic alert has been made available for the 2011 Charger also.

The most noticeable change concerns the new Charger’s exterior. The front end was modified in an effort to provide the car with a more dynamic look. Also, scallops on the hood and side panels serve the same purpose. The 2011 Dodge Charger comes in two primary trim levels; SE an R/T. All Star Dodge in Bridgeton Missouri is the Dodge dealer that many people look to when auto shopping. Associates there can provide useful information on this and other available Dodge cars and trucks.
