1970s – Thanks to stricter emissions standards, the oil embargo, and fuel shortages, the muscle car era came to an end during the 1970s. During this time, the Chryler Cordoba was introduced.

1980s – The 1980s brought with it a financial crisis for Chrysler and a return to basics for the company. During this time Chrysler introduced an all-new vehicle segment known as the minivan.

1990s – In the 1990s, Chrysler gave the world the first luxury minivan and innovative, standard safety features never offered before. In 1999, the 300 nameplate was re-introduced to the brand with the 300M. This vehicle would go on to win Motor Trend’s “Car of the Year” award for that year.

2000s – During the 2000s, Chrysler merged with Daimler. Buyers got a fourth-generation Town & Country minivan, the 2001 Motor Trend “Car of the Year” winning PT Cruiser, and the Chrysler Pacifica. In 2005, Chrysler once again gave buyers a rear-wheel option with the Chrysler 300 series of sedans.

FCA US LLC Has Successful July 2015!

July 2015  CalendarOn August 3rd, FCA US LLC released details regarding it’s sales totals for the month of July 2015.  In the report, FCA US indicates that the company posted it’s best July sales since the year 2005 with a total of 178,027 units.  This number accounts for a 6 percent increase over the same month last year when the company posted totals of 167,667 units.  The company additionally experienced it’s 64th consecutive month of year-over-year sales.  According to said Reid Bigland, Head of U.S. Sales, “Last week FCA announced a 69 percent increase in second quarter profits and now we post our best July U.S. sales since 2005.  With Jeep sales up 23 percent, we were also able to achieve our 64th-consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases.”

During the month, eight FCA US models set sales records.  These models included:

  • The Chrysler 200 with an 85 percent jump in sales.  This accounts for the 200’s best July sales ever and is also the car’s 11th consecutive month of setting sales records.
  • The Dodge Challenger with a 20 percent jump in sales and it’s sixth sales record for the year.
  • The Dodge Journey with a 16 percent jump in sales.  July was also the Journey’s best July ever and it’s fourth consecutive sales record this year.
  • The Jeep Wrangler with an 18 percent jump in sales.  This was also the Wrangler’s best July ever.
  • The Jeep Cherokee with a 13 percent jump in sales.  This was also the Cherokee’s best July ever.
  • The Jeep Patriot with a 22 percent increase in sales.  July also awarded the Patriot with the largest year-over-year percentage gain of any Jeep brand model for the month.
  • The Jeep Compass with a 2 percent jump in sales.  This was also the Compass’s best July ever.
  • The Ram ProMaster with a 25 percent jump in sales and it’s best July since it launched in 2013.

At the end of July, FCA US has an 82-day supply of inventory totaling 563,809 units.
