Taking a Look Back

Chrysler Cars at All Star Chrysler near Saint Charles

Every once in a while we like to stop and take a look back at where Chrysler got its start. We believe that knowing where you are coming from is important – because how can you know where you are going if you don’t know where you have been? Today we want to look back at the 1950’s area for Chrysler. Remember, you can always get your latest Chrysler Cars at All Star Chrysler near Saint Charles.

Exner revived Chrysler production car design with the sleek, sculptured Forward Look designs of 1955 that transformed the product line overnight. The Forward Look flagship was the 1955 Chrysler 300, a striking automobile that combined smooth styling with brawny HEMI power. The 300, arguably the first muscle car, became a legend on and off the race track and set records throughout the 1950s, including a 143-mph performance at Daytona Beach. As the Fifties progressed, Chrysler products began to sprout distinctive tailfins, ostensibly to improve handling and stability above 70 miles per hour. The 1957 Chrysler brand standard-bearer, the 300C, was equipped with a standard 392-cubic-inch, 375-horsepower HEMI, two four-barrel carburetors, a high-output camshaft, Torsion-Aire suspension and the new Torqueflite transmission, making it the fastest, most powerful production car built in America that year and earning it the appellation “beautiful brute.”

“The company’s engineering “firsts” from this era include the first “safety cushion dashboard,” the famous Chrysler push-button transmission (which became an icon of the ’50s), power steering, torsion-bar suspension and the first practical alternator (introduced in 1960, it proved so successful it became standard equipment just one year later).”-chrysler.com

Changes Coming for Chrysler

Chrysler Cars at All Star Chrysler near Chesterfield

If you are like us, you have probably noticed that the Chrysler lineup at All Star Chrysler near Chesterfield has been looking a little thin. While the Chrysler 200, 300, and Pacifica are all great, we want more! It looks like Chrysler has heard our cries and is going to be making some changes to the lineup, including the additions of some new crossovers.

300: Sources say a planned redesign of the LX-based 300 onto the Giorgio platform, originally scheduled for 2020, has been scrapped. Instead, designers will do a major freshening of the 300 in 2019 in hopes of shedding weight and improving fuel economy. The addition of a turbocharged four-cylinder is a strong possibility to augment an improved V-6 to help get the job done. In the meantime, Chrysler will put a Hellcat engine in its luxury sedan in late 2018 because why not?

Pacifica: The well-regarded minivan will be freshened in 2020.

Midsize crossover: The front-wheel-drive midsize crossover, to be built at FCA’s Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois beginning in 2019, will share a platform with the Jeep Cherokee and have three rows of seating, similar to the Dodge Journey.

Portal: Chrysler’s electric and autonomous minivan concept received high praise when it debuted in January. FCA realizes it must get into the electric vehicle business eventually, if only to meet regulatory requirements in states such as California, and the Portal would be a competitive offering. However, there are no announced plans to move toward production.

Full-size crossover: Plans call for Chrysler to resurrect the Aspen name in 2021 for a full-size, three-row crossover on the Pacifica platform.

These are just some of the plans that Chrysler has in mind. As soon as we know more, we will let you know! In the mean time, head to All Star Chrysler and get your Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, or Chrysler Pacifica today!

When you are shopping for a different vehicle, you have a number of great choices! At All Star Dodge Ram near Arnold there are a number of great new, used, and certified pre-owned Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Chrysler Cars. Today we want to talk about the benefits of buying a certified pre-owned car, truck, or SUV from All Star Dodge Ram!

Only Vehicles in the Best Condition Qualify–Late-model, low-mileage vehicles with clean vehicle history reports are accepted into certified pre-owned programs sponsored by auto manufacturers. If a vehicle does not meet specific criteria, which varies depending on the automaker, it cannot become a CPO vehicle.

Multi-point Inspection and Reconditioning Process–The number of things that a dealer will examine and, if necessary, recondition or replace to meet CPO program standards varies by manufacturer, but generally a CPO vehicle has endured between 100 and 200 individual item checks and is approved by the time it goes on sale as a certified used vehicle.

Extended Warranty Protection–“Many CPO programs extend both the original basic and the original powertrain warranty on a CPO vehicle. Typically, those companies that provide shorter-term time and mileage limits for the original new car warranty are likely to extend their CPO programs by significant amounts in an effort to be competitive. Other manufacturers that provide generous new car warranty coverage may not increase limits for their CPO vehicles as much or at all. Rather, the remainder of the new car warranty is transferred to the new owner.”-jdpower.com

Dodge and Chrysler Ending Production???

Chrysler Cars at All Star Chrysler near Ellisville

We thought that title might get your attention! Dodge and Chrysler are not ending production, so no need to worry. They are talking about ending production on the right hand driving models. While this does not really apply to us here in the St. Louis area, it is going to make a global impact. Let’s look a little deeper into this.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is reportedly bringing an end to right-hand-drive production of Chrysler and Dodge vehicles at its Windsor and Brampton factories in Canada. FCA had already pulled the plug on Chrysler and Dodge’s UK efforts, but it looks as if it will now exit other RHD markets in South Africa, New Zealand, Japan, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Australia, too.

The report, which initiated in South Africa, suggested that the Chrysler 300 will be available in Australia despite the move, but FCA itself has said it’s still fully committed to right-hand-drive markets. The basis of the claims was a quote from FCA South Africa CEO Robin van Rensburg, who suggested Chrysler and Dodge were out due to them no longer being produced in RHD configuration in North America.

“FCA announced in early 2015 that 2017 would be the last year Chrysler products would be offered in the UK, citing the need to concentrate on the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Jeep brands, as well as dwindling sales, as the reasons behind the decision. Dodge left the UK market back in 2010.”-msn.com

We are not super surprised by this decision, but it has us wondering if FCA will be expanding the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Jeep lines in the UK, and maybe here too. In the mean time, head to All Star Chrysler near Ellisville and check out their huge selection of Chrysler Cars.

Do I Really NEED Dealership Service?

Service Department at All Star Dodge Ram near Saint Charles

We hear this question all the time. The short answer is YES! We will get into the long answer shortly. Whenever you need anything done to any of your Dodge, Ram, Jeep, or Chrysler cars, trucks, or SUVs, you should really bring it to the Service Department at All Star Dodge Ram near Saint Charles. Their team knows just how to handle any and all situations that may come up. Now here’s the long answer…

One of the biggest advantages of servicing a vehicle at the dealership begins right in the service bays. Dealerships employ technicians that are considered specialists in working on a particular line of vehicles. They are manufacturer-trained and, in most cases, only work on the make of vehicles that are sold through that particular dealership.

The specialist training is often only offered to a manufacturer’s network of dealerships, and encompasses not only the service technicians, but service managers, advisors and support staff as well. This means that the men and women working on the vehicles have intimate knowledge of how these vehicles are supposed to perform and how/when to make necessary repairs.

“Another advantage is the relationship that is built with the dealership. By having a vehicle serviced regularly at the dealership, they have an accurate and up-to-date picture of the road and service history of that vehicle. They are better equipped to understand what is going on with each individual vehicle because they have all prior service records right at their fingertips.”-tischerauto.com

When it comes time to get any of your Dodge, Ram, Jeep, or Chrysler vehicles serviced, head straight to All Star. Their team is ready to assist you in whatever you might need done!

What Parts Commonly Need Replacing?

Parts Department at All Star Dodge near Mehlville

Did you know that All Star Dodge near Mehlville has a full parts department? They do! They also have friendly and knowledgeable staff that are ready to help you order and find any part that you might need for any of your Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Chrysler Cars! Have you ever stopped to think about which auto parts are most commonly replaced? We got to thinking about it the other day after we had a lot of people looking for air filters and thought we would do a little digging and share with you what we found!

Since we already mentioned it….Air Filters – This part generally needs replacing around every 40,000 miles or possibly sooner if your vehicle is driven on dirty or gritty roads where large amounts of particles can be kicked up.

Brake Parts – Brake Components – All of the parts that are associated with the brake fluid system will succumb to internal corrosion over their lifetime. You will need to replace the calipers, wheel cylinders and master cylinder once every 100,000 miles.

Shocks and Struts – In some vehicles it may be the case that you never have to replace the shocks, however a slight unbalance in the car can cause the shocks to wear prematurely, as can travel on poor and degraded road surfaces. It is recommended that you change all your shocks at once to keep the ride quality consistently good.

Oil and Oil Filter – One of the most commonly changed car parts, your oil needs checking and replacing around every 4,000 miles to ensure the good, smooth running of your vehicle.

Alternator – “This part can suffer fatigue if it is used to run too many high power applications in the car. However it is always recommended to test the wiring and connections before replacing the entire unit.”-breakerlink.com

Chrysler and Sesame Street a Winning Combination!

Electric Cars at All Star Chrysler near Ballwin

Chrysler has been making some great changes lately, one of which being the introduction of the hybrid Chrysler Pacifica, the other being their partnership with the characters of Sesame Street. Today we want to take a brief look at both! Remember, you can get all kinds of Chrysler Cars at All Star Chrysler near Ballwin!

The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is a one-of-a-kind vehicle, the sole plug-in hybrid minivan offered for sale in North America. The Pacifica Hybrid is back on sale in its second model year, and the minivan with 33 miles of electric range has some new support from familiar faces.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced a new ad partnership with both Sesame Streetand actor Dax Shepard to support the 2018 Pacifica Hybrid. The ads began to appear across social and digital media channels on September 27, including the one in the video above. Titled “It’s Electric,” the spot features the Two-Headed Monster and Big Bird alongside Shepard, and explains the Pacifica’s plug-in hybrid powertrain in the most basic terms.

“The fact that buyers are eligible for a full $7,500 federal tax credit will likely help the Pacifica Hybrid’s sales, since that brings its post-incentive price close to the conventional version. California buyers also receive a $1,500 purchase rebate, plus a “Green Sticker” that gives access to that state’s highway carpool lanes. While Sesame Street works to increase awareness of its green minivan, FCA’s future will involve more electrified vehicles. “-greencarreports.com

We cannot wait to see what other electrified vehicles Chrysler will come out with! One thing is for certain, that they will be awesome! After all, with friends like Big Bird and Elmo, you can’t go wrong!

Why is Auto Service So Important?

Service Center at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis

We all know we are supposed to properly maintain our auto vehicles, but what exactly does that mean, and why? Today we want to talk about why it is important to get all of your Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Chrysler cars, trucks, and SUVs serviced at All Star Dodge Ram near St. Louis.

Regularly servicing your car can make the difference between it running smoothly and fuel efficiently, and the risk of it breaking down and incurring an expensive and unexpected repair. It can be a false economy to avoid regular car servicing, since expected wear and tear requiring minor maintenance, can fast become a costly major repair or replacement.

The service schedule for your vehicle will depend on the manufacturer and also depend on the car’s mileage and age.

“We have defined an Interim Service as having 35 main action points including, four changes and four top-ups. The changes include engine oil, oil filter and wheel nut torque (depending on the vehicle’s mileage and manufacturer specification). The dealership will also check and change the tire pressure and top up the clutch fluid, power steering reservoir, brake fluid level and windscreen washer if required.”-automyze.theaa.com

The dealership will also perform checks on other parts of the vehicle and if these parts need changing they will communicate this with you in advance of carrying out the work to make sure you are aware of what additional work is required and whether any further costs may be incurred.

If you have any questions on the kind of servicing done on at the All Star service center, just ask! Their friendly and factory trained technicians would love to answer any questions that you might have. Stop by the All Star service center today!
