What Parts Commonly Need Replacing?

Parts Department at All Star Dodge near Mehlville

Did you know that All Star Dodge near Mehlville has a full parts department? They do! They also have friendly and knowledgeable staff that are ready to help you order and find any part that you might need for any of your Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Chrysler Cars! Have you ever stopped to think about which auto parts are most commonly replaced? We got to thinking about it the other day after we had a lot of people looking for air filters and thought we would do a little digging and share with you what we found!

Since we already mentioned it….Air Filters – This part generally needs replacing around every 40,000 miles or possibly sooner if your vehicle is driven on dirty or gritty roads where large amounts of particles can be kicked up.

Brake Parts – Brake Components – All of the parts that are associated with the brake fluid system will succumb to internal corrosion over their lifetime. You will need to replace the calipers, wheel cylinders and master cylinder once every 100,000 miles.

Shocks and Struts – In some vehicles it may be the case that you never have to replace the shocks, however a slight unbalance in the car can cause the shocks to wear prematurely, as can travel on poor and degraded road surfaces. It is recommended that you change all your shocks at once to keep the ride quality consistently good.

Oil and Oil Filter – One of the most commonly changed car parts, your oil needs checking and replacing around every 4,000 miles to ensure the good, smooth running of your vehicle.

Alternator – “This part can suffer fatigue if it is used to run too many high power applications in the car. However it is always recommended to test the wiring and connections before replacing the entire unit.”-breakerlink.com

Collision Repair Center at All Star Dodge Ram near Chesterfield

We hope that you are having a fantastic week. The weather is wonderful and things are starting to warm up – not to mention that the St. Louis Cardinals are off to a great start! It is likely that you are going to be getting out more and it is important that your Dodge Ram vehicles be ready to hit the road. Today we would like to share with you a couple of tips and a special offer that the collision center at All Star near Chesterfield is offering.

Some of the biggest issues that you might have with your vehicle this spring come from the birds and the pollen. You might not realize, but bird poop and pollen are very corrosive substances to the exterior or your vehicle (pollen can also do a number on your air filtration system, so be sure to change your air filter early and often). The best way to deal with these obnoxious substances is to make sure you are washing your Dodge Ram vehicles at least once a week. This will wash the pollen and poop off of the surface of the vehicle, protecting the clear coat and preserving the exterior of your vehicle.

Another thing that you will want to consider is the condition of your tires. If you have any road trips planned, you will want to make sure that your tires are up to the challenge. The collision center at All Star is ready to help you with a special promotion on tires this month! You can also get a discounted front wheel alignment this month. All Star makes getting your Dodge Ram vehicles ready for spring easy with all of their great specials. Stop by the dealership today for all of your service needs.

Avoid These Auto Repair Shop Scams – Part 2

Yesterday, the Saint Charles area Dodge cars experts at All-Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram introduced you to just a few of the auto repair shop scams that cost car owners every year.  Today, let’s take a look at more!

  • Every car owner has to have the tires replaced on their vehicle sometime and this is when some unsuspecting victims get scammed.  Some shop owners who think a car owner is very unaware of how car repairs work, will put old tires on a car and pass them off as new.  To avoid this practice, become aware of what your current tires look like before you take them in for replacement.  You can even go as far as taking pictures of the old tires for comparison purposes.
  • Air filters are another common area where mechanics will get a car owner to do a replacement way too soon.  An air filter is made to last around 15,000 miles or one year for the average driver and is often something you can purchase and replace yourself.
  • Sometimes a mechanic will suggest an engine flush service to rid your engine of build-up and sludge.  But unless you are neglecting to have your oil changed regularly or are just generally hard on your engine, it really isn’t a necessary task.
  •  Don’t get sold on fluids that are suppose to last the lifetime of the vehicle.  Whether marketed with the label or not, fluids need to be changed according to your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
  • If you drive a new vehicle and use good synthetic oil, changing your oil and filter every 3,000 miles in not necessary.  Don’t let the oil change sticker your mechanic shop puts on your windshield fool you into thinking so.

The team of mechanics at All-Star’s Dodge cars dealership near Saint Charles is here to help you will all of your repair and maintenance needs.  Give the shop a call today for your next service!

Jeep SUV Fuel Savings Tips

Cut Your Costs

All-Star’s Ballwin area Jeep dealer presents 8 tips that will help SUV drivers save fuel:

  • Tip #1 – Using old fashioned ways of saving fuel, such as car pooling or taking public transit, is still one of the best options when looking to save some money.  Both put money in your pocket and also allow for some down time during your commute.
  • Tip #2 – Planning your trips so that you take the best routes and combine your outings will prevent you from wasting fuel on multiple trips to the same areas over the course of the week.
  • Tip #3 – Remove the extra weight you have in your vehicle.  For example, think about the extra summer gear you still have in the back and pack it up for the season.
  • Tip #4 – You will start to see an immediate difference in your fuel usage by simply slowing down.  Don’t hit the gas so hard when leaving stop lights and stop speeding – both will save you money starting today!
  • Tip #5 – Investing in regular maintenance not only saves your vehicle from needing extra repair down the road, but also helps with fuel economy.  Make sure your tires are properly inflated, your air filter is clean, and your oil change is up-to-date!
  • Tip #6 – Try rolling your windows down to initially cool off your car, then turn on the air conditioner.  This simple tip will get your car cooler faster and save the energy it takes to cool with the a/c system right from the start.
  • Tip #7 – Are you really using that roof-top, bike or ski carrier?  If not, take them off!  These items ruin your aerodynamics and don’t do you any favors sitting on your car while empty.
  • Tip #8 – Don’t pay extra for Premium fuel unless it is required by your vehicle.  Look for the words “only” or “required” in your manual to know for sure.
