It is the time of year when the different auto manufacturers begin to leak information about what the next year’s models might look like and have in the way of features. Ram is no different. One such bit of information that was leaked was regarding the Power Wagon trim that will be available for the Ram truck models. This power wagon trim was designed for those who want to take their truck off road.
Upon seeing the sneak peeks of this truck, some have described it hearkens back to the 1979 “Macho” Power Wagon driven by Gerald McRaney’s character in the classic TV detective show “Simon and Simon.” This is apparently due to the graphics package, which do include some powerful looking vertical bedside stripes.
“Along with the vertical bedside stripes, the Power Wagon now sports a black, snout-like grille just like the one on the smaller Ram 1500 Rebel, black metal bumpers and front skid plate, and RAM lettering across the tailgate that’s big enough to read from space.”
“Standard seats feature synthetic upholstery embossed with the tread pattern from the Power Wagon’s 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, while leather is optional. The overall look of the interior is toughened up with iron grey metallic-painted trim.”
“The Power Wagon comes with a 410 hp 6.4-liter Hemi V8 under its bulging hood, Ram’s “articulink” front suspension with detachable sway bar for extreme off-roading, front and rear locking differentials, 14.3 inches of log-hopping ground clearance, and a 12,000-pound Warn winch with 125 feet of cable.”
This level of commitment on the part of Ram to put out such an impressive off-roading truck is great. It is nice to see this auto maker put out a vehicle that is designed for sport driving. For more information on the specs of the Power Wagon, head to the All Star Dodge Ram Dealer in MO.
