As the old saying goes, “There’s a first time for everything.” Remember your first job? Your first trip on an airplane? Your first kiss? Well, Chrysler wants its Dodge Ram to become your first pickup and the company is pulling out stops by launching the new Ram 1500 with a very friendly first timer price of $23,830.
Automakers are bit like the CIA in that they like to give the new models code-names. For this version of the Ram, Dodge has dubbed it the Adventurer. Subtle, no? What comes standard on the pickup is a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine that delivers to 20 mpg on the highway in two-wheel drive and powers up to 390 hp.
For those looking to compare this version of Ram is second cousin to 2011 Ram 1500 Tradesman. That light-duty work truck was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show. However, the Adventurer is going to be pack with loads of additional equipment.
The new Ram is a regular cab, short-bed model with optional four-wheel drive. It will ride on standard 20-inch aluminum wheels while the Tradesman has 17-inch wheels. For paintjobs, the new Ram shows off monochromatic paint in eight colors for the body, grille and front and rear fascias. You’ll also be getting fog lamps, a locking tailgate, cargo lamp, rear-bumper step pad, 6-by-9-inch side view mirrors and rear-wheel well liners, All Star Dodge in Bridgeton MO. offers plenty to keep first time truck buyers satisfied.
If you do decide to buy a Ram you won’t be alone. Sales of the Ram pickup rose about 13% last year to 199,652. Next time you see a fellow Ram driver on the road, give ‘em a honk hello!
