End of the Year – Time to Buy a Car!

Inventory Specials at All Star near Illinois

One question that we frequently get asked is whether or not the end of the year is the right time to buy a new or used car. Truth of the matter is that the end of the year is a great time to take advantage of the inventory specials that are being offered by All Star near Illinois. Let us examine why the end of the year is such a great time to buy.

One reason is the time of year itself: In most areas across the U.S., cold temperatures stop buyers from venturing out in search of a car or coming into the showroom. Also, many would-be car shoppers really are spending their money on holiday presents instead of cars.

There are other reasons why the end of the year is the best time to buy. One is that automakers tend to be selling out of the current model year, and they’re often ready to make good deals in order to move outgoing models out of the showrooms. For example, dealers and car companies don’t want to have 2014 models available in 2015, and that means they’re willing to make good deals on remaining 2014 models in order to clear them out of inventory.

Another reason that the end of the year is a great time to buy? Most automakers are eager to hit sales goals, and with only a few more weeks left in the year, they’ll start making better deals and offering stronger incentives to reach their targets.

Many times, holiday season offers also top regular deals because automakers add extra incentives to meet sale goals and targets. Once it’s a new year, these targets are gone — and that means offers aren’t as strong.

A Rebellion Coming!

Jeep Renegade at All Star Jeep Dealer in Missouri

We have been long time fans of the Jeep Renegade. It just screams out for adventure and thirsts for more something more. FCA has heard our cries and is introducing some new trims for the Jeep Renegade, at All Star Jeep Deal in Missouri, that will make it more rebellious than we thought possible. Let’s learn more about these trims today!

The 2017 Renegade Deserthawk and Altitude are both set to bow this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show. One is meant for taking on the toughest desert terrain while the other is dressy enough to pull up at an opera house.

Deserthawk may blend right into its environment if buyers order it in the new, exclusive Mojave Sand tan. It also comes in white, black and a gray called Anvil. The Deserthawk rocks 17-inch black wheels, hood and rear-body-panel decals, rock rails, skid plates, and signature red front and rear tow hooks. Inside are black leather seats with contrast stitching and accents, all-weather floor mats, a cargo tray mat, a backup camera and a 7-inch multimedia display.

All that’s in addition to the Deserthawk’s all-terrain capabilities, which mirror those of the “regular” Trailhawk edition. The desert-ready, all-wheel-drive performance comes courtesy 8.7 inches of ground clearance, hill descent control, up to 19 inches of water fording and a standard 180-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

In contrast is the Altitude, which is aimed more at making an impression on the street than the mud. “It elevates the offerings of the Latitude model, starting with an aggressive, all-black color scheme. All regular Latitude paint jobs are available, but the 18-inch wheels are blacked out and gloss-black accents adorn the exterior, including the front and rear badges, grille rings and taillight rings.”-usatoday.com

Changes Coming for 2018

Jeep Wrangler at All Star Jeep Dealer near Florissant

The Jeep Wrangler is and has always been one of the top selling models in the Jeep lineup for many years. In order to try and keep ahead of the curve, and anticipate what their customers will want. Today we want to share with you some of the things that we can expect to see on the 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

What will the platform look like? Jeep will continue with rugged body-on-frame construction to serve the off-roading aspirations of its faithful and multiplying constituents. That said, the coming edition will use modern materials to cut weight and boost mileage. Expect a hydroformed steel ladder frame carrying a body made of high-strength steel, aluminum, and plastic. A four-door pickup will join the lineup of two- and four-door models with hard- and softtops.

What about the powertrain? Today’s 3.6-liter DOHC V-6 will soldier on with manual and automatic transmissions. Fiat Chrysler’s current product plan also includes a turbo-diesel alternative in the near term and a hybrid after 2020, along with a possible turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder code-named “Hurricane” making around 300 horsepower.

What about the Competition? The Wrangler is without peer, a gully-busting rock climber you can drive to work. Compact crossovers bow in its presence. A new Land Rover Defender, expected next year, may re-invade this sphere, though at twice the price.

There really is no possible comparison for Jeep Wrangler, especially after these changes are done. We are sure that you will love all of the changes that are coming for the Jeep Wrangler. We encourage you to stop by All Star Jeep Dealer near Florissant and learn more about the Wrangler. You might even want to test drive this delightful model, but be careful, you might just fall in love!

More of a Good Thing

Dodge Journey at All Star near Ellisville

It seems like every model in every auto maker’s lineup is getting redone for the 2017 model year. Some vehicles need it, some just need a face lift, and some really don’t need anything at all. One such model that is not going to be seeing a lot of work done on it, is the Dodge Journey at All Star near Ellisville. Let’s take a look at what is not really changing.

The Dodge Journey, which was to be redesigned on a new platform this fall, instead will soldier on with few changes for at least two more model years, according to a company source. The three-row crossover was to shift to Fiat Chrysler’s CUSW platform, which underpins the Dodge Dart, Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee.

Redesigning the Journey likely would have meant moving its production from Toluca, Mexico, to the United States to share an assembly line with one of those vehicles. But FCA’s decision to outsource production of the next-generation Dart and 200 appear to have changed the strategy.

An FCA source said the 2017 and 2018 Journey will maintain the JC body code at least through the 2018 model year. In the company’s internal model nomenclature, a vehicle’s body code changes when it is redesigned using a different platform.

“The 2017 Journey is scheduled to begin production July 25 and the 2018 model will enter production in Toluca on July 17, 2017, the source said.”-autonews.com

The Journey, which began significant U.S. sales in 2008, has a four-speed automatic in its most fuel-efficient model rated at 19 mpg city/26 highway.

Though the Journey received its last major freshening for the 2011 model year, its U.S. sales have continued to climb. Its 105,400 U.S. sales in 2015 marked the nameplate’s fifth consecutive year of sales increases.

What to Expect from FCA?

New Cars at All Star Chrysler near O’Fallon

We have to go back, back to the future! Every once in a while we like to talk about the future of FCA and the Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, and Jeep vehicles that it makes. Looking forward, there are some pretty great things that appear to be coming down the pipeline for some of our favorite models. Let’s explore what is coming!

Around 2021, there may be a front wheel drive Chrysler car based on the Chrysler Pacifica. A planned crossover has been delayed. The future AWD set might use electric motors for the rear. Here’s what we think a front wheel drive 300 may look like. The main difference from the image at the top of this page is bringing the cab forward a bit more (no need to fit a V8), while leaving more room for the rear passengers.

The Dodge Caravan will continue alongside the new Town & Country into 2017, and will likely then be dropped.

“While the “Small” architectures have been lauded in Renegade and Tipo form, the CUSW setup has been praised in Cherokee and Pacifica form, and there may be one more car for it: the Dodge Journey replacement, to come out as a Chrysler. Will it be the Chrysler Voyager or the Chrysler Journey, or something completely different (Town & Country, even)? Only Auburn Hills — perhaps Turin — knows.”-allpar.com

Chrysler 100 and/or 100C, if it arrives in the US, is likely to be a true compact on the SUSW platform. There is already a Fiat Tipo (same body) sold in Mexico as the Dodge Neon, but the 100 was supposedly not just a Tipo rebadge/repower. Reportedly there is a team in Mexico trying to convert the Tipo-Neon into a car suitable for sale in the US, with a standard Fiat 1.4 turbo.

The Durango is All Shook Up!

Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge near St. Louis

One of America’s most favorite cars is the Dodge Durango at All Star Dodge near St. Louis. It is spacious, fun to drive, and very family friendly. This model is also getting a little shaken up with the introduction of the Shaker concept. We want to explore a little more about this new Shaker Durango.

Dodge’s Durango Shaker concept, on display at the 2016 SEMA show, adds more fuel to the speculation that a Durango SRT is in the works within the walls of FCA’s headquarters. Fitted with a 6.4-liter V-8 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Durango Shaker is a B5 Blue bombshell of a performance SUV with the potential to be the Mercedes-AMG GLS63 for the every-man. “As its name implies, the Shaker’s true pièce de résistance is its shaker hood scoop that works with a custom cold-air-intake system to help feed fresh air to the 392-cubic-inch engine. A cat-back exhaust with center-located tailpipes pushes out what’s left of the combustion process. Although Dodge didn’t supply power or torque figures for the Shaker, we’d venture to guess that the V-8 at least matches the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT’s 6.4-liter V-8 engine, with its 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.” -caranddriver.com

Perched on a set of meaty 22-inch wheels and tires, the Durango Shaker sits three inches lower than its stock counterpart. A redesigned front end sports a crosshair-less grille and a big front splitter, while a pair of hollowed-out headlights from the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat sit where fog lights would normally take residence. Tinted headlights and taillights, distinct lower-body cladding, a custom rear spoiler, and Satin Black detailing throughout the car, including on the hood, roof, and rear liftgate, give the Shaker a properly menacing appearance.

More Power in the 2500 Power Wagon

Ram 2500 Power Wagon at All Star Dodge Ram near Ballwin

While FCA has decided not to redesign all of the larger trucks in the Ram family of vehicles, they did go ahead with refreshing the Ram 2500 that is available at All Star near Ballwin. Today we want to share with you some of the changes that are happening on the 2017 Ram 2500.

More bells and whistles is coming at a bit of a price increase. Prices for the updated 2017 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will climb slightly higher than 2016 prices. The base price of a well-optioned and off-road capable Power Wagon will start at $53,015 (all prices include a $1,320 destination fee), with a top-to-the-line model with all the options going for just less than $60,000. The base 2016 model started at $52,355. The 2017 Power Wagon will go on sale by the end of 2016.

“We’ve spent a good amount of time in the new Power Wagon and like the new look that echoes the design of the popular Ram 1500 Rebel. Thankfully, all the of the same features that have made the Power Wagon an impressive back-country explorer are still in place: a taller stance, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires, a unique five-link front suspension, electronic locking front and rear differentials, a sway-bar disconnect, monotube shocks and an integrated 12,000-pound front winch.”news.pickuptrucks.com

Those looking for more luxury appointments from the new Power Wagon can opt for the Leather & Luxury Package ($4,495), which replaces the cloth tire-tread-imprinted seats with a leather appointed interior, heated and ventilated 40/20/40-split front bench seat, 10-way adjustable driver seat, power folding mirrors, an upgraded security system, the Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen and more.

There are so many great upgrades on the new Ram 2500 Power Wagon, we highly suggest that you head to All Star and test drive one of these impressive vehicles.

Is Dealer Service Important?

Service Department at All Star Dodge Ram near Oakville

Getting your Dodge Ram cars serviced is a lot bigger deal that what some people think. It isn’t wise to get your vehicle worked on by any Joe Smoe around the corner. Dealerships stock their service departments with only the finest factory trained and certified technicians. Today we want to share with you some of the reasons that having your Dodge Ram vehicles serviced at All Star near Oakville is the best choice.

First, in order to maintain their franchises dealerships must pay for training their technicians and providing special tools and equipment. Dealers also have access to proprietary information, information on new vehicles they sell and service. This means that no one else can access this information, which is often necessary for diagnosis and repair. In addition, dealership service departments work mainly on the makes and models that they sell. Since they are very familiar with the particular car line, they can usually pinpoint a problem more quickly and more accurately.

Dealership technicians are usually paid according to a method called flat rate. When a job is dispatched to a technician, the clock starts. If an operation calls for a time frame of two hours, then the labor will be twice the shop’s hourly rate. “If the technician is proficient at this particular operation and can do it in half the time, the customer still pays for two hours of labor and the tech earns two hours of pay for one hour of work. Conversely, if the tech does the job in more than the allowed time, the customer still pays two hours of labor. This method of payment holds a standard hourly rate for the customer, and yet rewards highly skilled technicians.” -autoblog.com
