Dodge Cars Honored In 2015 J.D. Power APEAL Study

gold metal On July 22nd it was announced that two Dodge cars had been named as winners according to the J.D. Power’s 2015 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study™.  The winners are:

  • The Dodge Challenger in it’s segment category of Midsize Sporty Car.  This is the fourth time in five years that the Challenger has been on top of this category.
  • The Dodge Charger in it’s segment category of Large Car.  This is the fifth year in a row that the Charger has won for Large Car.

According to Matt Liddane, Vice President – Quality, FCA-North America, “We’re proud to receive three APEAL awards in back-to-back years as customers continue to recognize that we’re delivering exciting and appealing vehicles which meet their needs.  An owner’s positive experience with our vehicles, whether that’s with a Dodge Challenger or a Fiat 500, is a true testament to our steadfast commitment to the highest level of quality across our vehicle lineup.”

J.D. Power’s APEAL Study measures the initial pleasure an owner has of his/her new vehicle based on 77 vehicle attributes.  The company has been doing this study for 20 years and takes the answers of it’s participants very seriously.  Survey results are taken after 90 days of ownership along side J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study.  Those at J.D. Power indicate that winners of it’s APEAL Study spend less time on dealer lots, have higher transaction prices, and greater owner loyalty.

Along with the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger, the Fiat 500 led in it’s segment of City Car and the Ram 1500 and Chrysler 300 both took second and third place rewards in their segments, respectively.

Smart Test Driving Tips

Man taking car keyYour new or used car test drive is one of the most important aspects of the car buying process.  While taking a test drive you will need to make sure that you not only like the vehicle’s style, but you will additionally need to get a feel for how it rides, the space it offers, and functionality of it’s many features.  Today, the Fenton area Dodge cars experts at All-Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram want to help you remember a few of the most-overlooked areas when taking a test drive – Electronics and Wear Items. Let’s talk about both!

Cars come with more and more standard electronics every year.  These items can be found beyond the dash board and encompass the entire car.  While taking a test drive, be sure to check out the infotainment system.  This area can be tricky, but don’t be scared off and ask questions.  Your dealer should be able to show you details on all the functions of this system.  Also be sure to check items like the sunroof, power liftgate, keyless entry, and DVD players.  If any of these systems are not in working order, they will most likely be expensive to fix!

Another area that many buyers ignore are wear items.  Wear items include brakes, tires, belts, and much more.  These items can be checked personally if you have a working knowledge about them or can be checked out by a certified mechanic.  It’s important to take a look at these items because you don’t want to get your new-to-you vehicle home only to realize it needs expensive tires or brakes a month later.
