AAA Foundation President and CEO Peter Kissinger stated: “Cell phones, texting, personal grooming, and reaching for things in the car were among the most common distracting activities found when cameras were put in new teen drivers’ cars. This new study provides the best view we’ve had about how and when teens engage in distracted driving behaviors believed to contribute to making car crashes the leading cause of death for teenagers.”

We encourage all families to develop a system of accountability when it comes to safe driving. Many families have created safe driving agreements for all members of driving age. This contract, signed by all parties involved is an agreement, which states no cell phones, or other distractive devices will be used while driving. Period. New PSA Geared At Saving The Lives Of Children

St. Louis St Louis ChesterfieldRecently, transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced the launch of several new public service announcements (PSAs) that aim to raise awareness about the importance of choosing and correctly installing the right child safety seat. Mr. LaHood is quoted as saying: “Safety is our top priority for everyone on our roadways, and we’re calling on parents to do everything they can to protect our most vulnerable passengers,” said Secretary LaHood. “Together, the new public service announcement and website will help parents understand the differences in child safety seats, make sure they choose the right seat for their child, and properly secure them every time they get behind the wheel.”

The ads are titled “The Right Seat” and their primary goal is to make sure all parents and anyone transporting a child fully understands they way to properly secure a child in the correct car restraint system (rear-facing, forward facing or seatbelt). The ads are geared specifically towards parents and caregivers who are already using car seats to help remind them to check to make sure they are using the correct car seat. David Strickland, NHTSA Administrator reminds us “The proper use of a child seat is the most effective way to keep a child safe in a moving vehicle”.
