Ram 1500 is on Top for Good Reason

new Dodge Ram in MissouriThe most recent, fourth-generation Dodge Ram 1500 was redesigned for the 2009 model year. When compared to older Rams, this truck benefits from a coil-spring rear suspension, more powerful engines, and newer technological features.

This 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 comes available in five trim levels, beginning with the ST and moving through SLT, TRX, Sport and finally to the top-line Laramie. Three cab configurations and three bed lengths were also offered. The pickup could be had in either a two-wheel or four-wheel-drive setup. The Mega Cab from the previous generation was longer made available, but the current Crew Cab still provided almost 40 inches of rear legroom. Three engines were available: a 3.7-liter V6, a 4.7-liter V8 and a 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Notable for the Ram was its coil-spring rear suspension, which significantly enhanced the truck’s ride quality over broken pavement.

Ram will also gain new power folding trailer towing mirrors and chrome side moldings. The ST, however, loses its bright grille, reverting to black. Deep Water Blue appears to have been replaced by Patriot Blue; silver has the two-tone effect; and AutoStick is on the steering column shift lever when it’s not on the floor console.

For safety, the Ram included supplemental front curtain and side air bags, anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, height-adjust shoulder belts, sentry key theft deterrent system, and tire pressure monitoring warning lamp.

It was available in Bright Silver Metallic, Bright White, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl, Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl; Deep Water Blue Pearl; Flame Red, Hunter Green Pearl and Mineral Gray Metallic.

Factory-installed exterior options included Mopar chrome tubular side steps, Mopar chrome steel bed rails, folding and heated trailer-tow power mirrors with supplemental signals and courtesy lamps, spray-in bedliner and under-rail bedliner. All Star Dodge located in Bridgeton is the place to go to pick out your next new Dodge Ram in Missouri.

2012 Likely the Best Ram Ever

Dodge Ram Truck near IllinoisThe best way to know if a particular product is a good buy is to collect information from an unbiased source. All one has to do is to look at the customer reviews on cars.com to come to the conclusion that the 2012 Ram is a great selection.

Mike from Utah says, “The RamBox option is great – The bed gets a little smaller, but I can put a lot of stuff in the secured box. This is the only way to go! Pulls my 5000 pound ski boat/trailer with ease up mountain roads and on the freeway. Interior trim of the Longhorn package is excellent and Dodge’s application of a hands-free radio is simple to learn and use. Hopefully the reliability will be fine.”

According to Jon in Detroit, “The truck rides amazing compared to my previous Ram and F150. The 4 link coil over rear is great for ride quality! The only thing I do not like is the fuel efficiency in the city…if this was a big deal for me; I would not have gotten any truck. Highway mileage is not bad at all cruising at 65 it gets 19 to 20 all day, but city is still in the 15 mpg range. Interior is nice and the mygig radio/DVD/NAV system is second to none. The power the motor has is unreal! It will get rubber in second gear! Not many cars out there are faster, let alone trucks. Overall it is a great truck and highly recommend!”

Get up close and personal with a new Dodge Ram truck near Illinois at All Star Dodge in Bridgeton MO. Test drivers say the 2012 Ram 1500 drives like a car, which is unheard-of for a full-size pickup truck. Though it’s by no means nimble, it’s one of the smoothest-driving trucks around, thanks to its advanced suspension. Not only is its top-of-the-line Laramie Longhorn trim nearly as upscale as that of a luxury car, but even its lower trims’ interiors are well-made and comfortable. Reviewers also say that most of its engine options are more than capable for most tasks.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Reaches Nearly 500,000 miles

new Jeep Dealer near Belleville All Star Dodge and new Jeep Dealer near Belleville is pleased to announce a recent news report describing how a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee has reached 452,479 miles!

The owner of the Grand Cherokee, Bill Robinson purchased his 5th Jeep project which was a white 1995 Grand Cherokee with 118,000 miles in 2001

Robinson travels quite a bit through rural areas of Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina and says that driving for extended periods is difficult on the “old Jeep,”  so Robinson prepares with tools, battery cables, a 2 gallon water can, as well a survival kit, for any unforeseen mechanical problems which could occur.

In order to keep the 4.0 straight 6 which Robinson refers to as a; “honey of an engine,” running in top shape, he keeps more oil going in “than the amount that comes out.”  If the Jeep starts to make any new noises, Robinson pulls over and puts the Jeep in neutral to listen to how the engine is running.  This is an “old Army habit,” according to Robinson.

Robinson likes the fact that his old Jeep Cherokee is white because if a body part wears out, it is easy to replace.  For example, he once had to replace the side door because a hinge broke and was able to easily replace it with the same style door including the pin striping.

Robinson is currently searching for some dashboard parts for the console but he’s not in any big hurry to replace the worn out parts because as he puts it; “Nobody rides with me, it’s just me and my golf clubs.”

Once when the engine had 400,000 miles on it, Robinson thought it may be burning oil so he had the engine steam cleaned and found that “it was blowing oil out of a spot where the oil filter goes onto the block. He found that there was a manufacturer’s bulletin about a little $16 oil filter mounting adapter,” according to All Par, “He had it put it on. That part corrected the oil leak. Since the engine was steam cleaned, it runs a whole lot cooler.”

The 1995 Grand Cherokee was still running as of February 21st.
