Headlight Maintenance for Your Jeep Grand Cherokee

used Jeep Dealer in MissouriAll Star Dodge, new and used Jeep Dealer in Missouri knows that with all of the regular car maintenance required to keep your new Jeep Grand Cherokee in perfect running condition, one area that gets overlooked is headlight maintenance.

When it comes to keeping headlight cleans, its more than just keeping your new or used Jeep looking great, it’s also about safety.  Recent research has revealed that nearly 2,300 pedestrians are killed in the U.S. every year as a result of driver’s poor night vision.

Below are some tips in keeping your headlights maintained and in safe working condition:

  • Give headlights a quick cleaning whenever you see the need to clean your windshield, for example, at regular service center stops. Clean headlights will help prevent glare and improve your ability to see well at night.
  • Make sure your headlights are aimed properly, they can often be knocked out of position by driving off-road in your Cherokee or by driving over potholes. Have your local All Star Dodge service technician check your headlights each time you get your oil changed.
  • Inspect your headlights regularly to make sure they are free of chips, condensation and scratches, which can decrease visibility and contribute to glare during night time driving.

Experts feel that performing regular maintenance on your headlights is as important as rotating your tires on a regular basis.

It’s also important to set up a regular schedule for changing the bulbs in your headlights before they get a chance to burn out, or carry a spare in your glove box so that you can be prepared the minute your old headlight burns out.

Another method of improving visibility is to install high performance replacement headlight bulbs which are whiter, brighter halogen lights.

Chrysler is pleased to announce that The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has closed the preliminary investigation into possible airbag system problems on 2007-2008 Jeep Wranglers.

In May the investigation was initially opened after consumers reported “the air bag warning light being displayed with a higher incidence of problems being reported on right-hand-drive Wranglers,” according to automotive news.

Faulty clockspring wiring in the steering column was found to be the problem.  There were no reports of accidents or injuries related to any of the consumer complaints.

Chrysler performed it own internal investigation which revealed a higher rate of RHD Wrangler failures occurred in Jeep Wrangler’s driven website traffic analyzer
by U.S. Postal Service carriers with rural routes.  The investigation found that the Postal carriers use was “more severe duty cycle than would typically be expected.”

U.S. Automakers May be Forced to Increase Incentives in 2012

used dodge dealer near Illinois Chrysler Group may soon boost incentives or cut production to lower inventory which is currently at a 31 month high according to Bloomberg News.

“GM, Chrysler and Ford Motor Co. had 80 days supply of cars and light trucks as of Nov. 30” according to a report by Kevin Tynan, Bloomberg analyst. Inventories are considered manageable when in the range of 55 days to 65 days, he said.

“You just don’t want to be out there with so much inventory when a price war starts or it’s going to get ugly,” Tynan said today in a phone interview. “If I’m GM, Ford or Chrysler, I’m trying to get that days supply down” before Japanese automakers’ inventories return to 60 days supply.

Analysts predict that auto sales in the United States may reach 12.7 million this year, the best annual sales numbers since 2008.  According to Bloomberg, sales may increase to 13.5 million next year which will be a rise for the 3rd consecutive year from the 27 year low in 2009 f only 10.4 million units sold.

Japanese automakers’ U.S. inventories fell to 47 days after Japan’s earthquake and tsunami caused a shortage of automotive supplies.  Japanese automakers’ supply has yet to surpass 50 days every since the disaster.  Korean carmakers Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. have inventories of only 40 days during that time span according to Bloomberg.

If auto sales slow in early 2012 as Japanese auto supplies are still recovering, Chrysler and other auto dealers may be forced to increase incentives which could negatively impact the 2nd quarter net earnings according to Tynan.

Chrysler Group said that the company has reopened its shuttered Conner Avenue assembly plant in Detroit to produce the next generation of the SRT Viper sports car; assembly will start late next year.

In July of 2010 the last Viper rolled off the assembly line and production ceased, but the new 2013 model year will be the next generation model according to Chrysler Corporation.

The plant was idled in July 2010 when Viper production ceased. The next-generation Viper will be a 2013 model, according to Chrysler.

Chrysler has recalled as many as 150 auto workers, both hourly as well as salaried employees and the first of those workers have already returned to the plant to begin preparation for re-tooling in order to start production of the new Dodge Viper Chrysler stated.

“We’re extremely excited that our ultimate American sports car will continue to live on and be produced exclusively here in the Motor City,” said Ralph Gilles, president of the SRT brand and motorsports for Chrysler Group.

Dealer’s Obstacle Course is Ready for Jeep Test Drive

Jeep Dealer serving IllinoisAll Star Dodge and Jeep Dealer serving Illinois is pleased to announce that new customers can ride in a Jeep on Ford’s new obstacle course which has hills, rocks, and logs on its quarter mile course.

Any Jeep dealer can explain the features of a Jeep to customers, but now many new Jeep Dealers can actually step outside of the dealership and  take potential new Jeep owners for a test drive over hills, rocks, and logs on a private dirt track.

Ralph Mahalak is a Jeep dealer in Ohio who purchased the obstacle course for his Monroe Dodge Chrysler Dealership.  The quarter mile track has 18 obstacles to be driven over, around and through-including a 25 foot hill, mud pit, rock and log crawls.  It takes 10 minutes to complete the course; potential customers are driven by trained staff members.

Steve Gordin from Highland Michigan actually designed the course; he builds off road courses for Chrysler’s annual camp Jeep events.  The course costs approximately $15,000 to build.

Mahalak Jr states; “The $15,000 course is probably one of the best investments I ever made.””Wrangler customers, Liberty or Grand Cherokee customers — they want to see what a Jeep can do,” Mahalak said. His dealership sold over 200 Jeep Wranglers since January 2010.

Customers are limited to riding in a Wrangler, Liberty, or Jeep Grand Cherokee because those are Chrysler’s vehicles which have transfer cases able to crawl in 4WD low across the obstacles.

There are less than 12 dealerships nationwide which have purchased the obstacle course.

Mahalak stated; “the track has truly been a gift” to the dealership, “it’s probably one of the best investments I ever made, in terms of paying for itself.”
